Re: Chris Todd Hounds
Ya Ryan you should see this 1yr old bluetick from his misty dog. He's bout as cold as they come and it all unfolded naturally overnight it seems. At about 10 months old he took off by himself on a track and started bawling which he's never done and next thing I know he's got my others in on the race ...

Re: Chris Todd Hounds
Chris Todd's pups are top notch as well. Little blue dog I got from him is 1 year now and very very cold nosed. That line is just natural for cold trailing dogs I believe. Chris, get some more pups coming a lot of people want them.

Re: hound hunting help
Not to be a jerk but its hard for people to bring new people into areas they hunt. Too many times word gets out and next thing u know ur pushed out if there. Loose lips sink ships kinda thing in this hound world.

Re: hound hunting help
There are coons here. I hunt and catch a few here and there. You can run them, lions, and bears. Id suggest getting you an older hound though to help train that pup. JMO.

Re: ruin dogs on coon
IMO coon hunting makes great locate and tree dogs. It's good excersize for the dogs and it don't ruin them at all. There still treeing and trailing that's wat u want. Go out and run them coons won't hurt dogs one bit.

Re: Chris Todd Hounds
Ryan this is an old post but stay with the breeding your doing. This walker female I got from you is amazing. She is 6 months right now and makes every race my dogs go on. She's 100+ barks a minute too. She has no back down at all in her as well. Keep up with these dogs they start young and people ...

Re: Field Trial opinions....
Guy before me nailed it. If you have good dogs they know the difference and its just excersize for them. It's all for fun and the kids. I field trial mine for that reason. I stil run them on bears and lions just fine. It doesn't hurt them.

Re: Field Trial opinions....
If you got good dogs it doesn't mess them up so not sure about all that. I go to see friends and enjoy the family environment. Nothing wrong with them. It won't mess your dogs up its just excersize for them if anything. They are fun too.

If fighting starts end it quick just remember that. I really would hunt that dog alone let him build up confidence and do it on his own but jmo

Re: Question that needs a answer
Hunt that dog alone at that age and put some lead in that other dog. Fighting at tree is unexceptable and not tolerated here with me. Let the pup know its ok and tie that older fog back at all trees if you don't do wat I said in beginning.

Re: small hounds on bear
Like I said they all have a spot in a pack big or small. This is just my opinion so don't take it the wrong way. I've seen my smaller dogs get in get hit and have to wait a sec before they get back up goin again where as my bigger bodied dogs take it and keep nailin.

Re: small hounds on bear
Not really no. I got some big dogs I run on bear and seen them get smacked and keep going where as a smaller dog might have gotten hurt worse. Has nothing to do with grit and how mean a dog is. You want done size in your pack if your gonna run bears cause you will come across mean ones on the ground ...

Re: small hounds on bear
Just cause small dogs get around good and are gritty doesn't always work on bears. You start running some mean ones that don't tree and one swipe or seat can do alotta damage to a smaller dog rather than a bigger dog that can take a hit and keep going better. I'm not saying one is nesessarily better ...

Re: Best time for coons right now?
Ya mike I'm hunting central AZ some good cover and trees. Dogs are broke off pigs and come back when they smell them. Wat hours do u think would be most productive here right now? It's down to the high 60s at night here? This Chris Todd pup I have is a fireball on coons and lions already at 11 ...
