Re: Type of hounds in Northern states
Hey, great info here fellas!! I am learning a lot. I have a couple questions...when you say running dogs, as opposed to tree dogs, are you talking pure fox hounds or fox/treeing mixed up dogs?? Second, I would like to take a shot at running cats. I am in NC...I am pretty sure we have a nice cat ...

Re: Coon trailing questions...
Thanks man! The first time I think they were definitely on deer...they bumped it and the race was in a circle. Last night I am not so sure...they opened...trailed 400 yards or so...not in a circle...but more of a straight line..must of ended up in the water cause the dogs were soaked. I just don't ...

Coon trailing questions...
Ok, so my question is: usually, once a dog strikes a coon trail how long before they tree? Also, how is the best way to tell if my dog is running deer or something? I think I may be running deer just do to how fast the dogs are running. Is this a good indicator? When trailing coon (on a smokin hot ...

Re: David Dean...
Thanks a million Irv..I will do that!! The reason I am asking is because I have been doing my family genealogy for a few years now...my family (Dean) I have traced back to Adrian, MI...I actually visited some mid 1800 grave sites a few years ago. Now my research is surprisingly pointing in the ...

Re: Swedens doghunting
Cajun,
I am really liking this post. What are these dogs like? How do they hunt? Are they open on track? Silent? I am really curious as to your opinions of these dogs ability especially compared to your Plotts!! I have Plotts as well, so I am very interested. Are these dogs gritty? Any information ...

Re: Swedens doghunting
Cajun, Those are great pictures. I am fairly nieve but do they run moose with dogs? Did you get a chance to do that? Those dogs look like they can really handle the cold!!
Thanks for sharing.

Hey guys...
I live in NC and it just got a little cold here...in the teens so not quite as painful as what you are going through. I am glad to see you guys think of your dogs first in that cold weather. Makes me question some of the heroics I have read in some of these hound hunting books-falling in rivers in ...

I was channel surfing...
the other night and bumped into a program called Taxidermy Trails and it covered two lion hunts with hounds. Not leopards, but not something you see on TV very often. If you find out let us know.

Thanks orbowhunter!! That was exactly what I was looking for. How hard is it to train a dog to rig bobcats? I mean do you think this would work in the south east? How many cats do you guys have per square mile? We have approximately 1 per square mile where I live. I would love to try this, but not ...

Question for Oregon cat hunters...
If you guys don't have snow on the ground how do you locate bobs to run? Do you free cast or is there some method that you use to find tracks? Thanks!!
