Re: !!! The Ultimate Bobcat Dog...Part 1.5 !!!

Lots of dogs out there that never have the chance to reach their potential from a lack of hunting or not enough game being put on. Usually see the same fellas with good dogs year in and out and some wanta be's who never figure it out. Lots of good hounds but it would be nice if they all were a ...

Re: Cat Numbers

I take offence to some of the opinions on this post. I know alot of you who are doing the pissing and moaning. Actually helped some of you get your blood lines statrted. I also know that it never hurt your feelings to go to somebody elses hunting spot and harvest a animal. Ive only been harvesting ...

Re: Ever saw this

al, my best dog that own now, probably the best bobcat dog i,ve ever owned did this when he was young.I thought this was because a cat had got ahold of him when he was six months old. not always, but alot of times he would leave the tree go back to where they started the track, not saying a word. I ...

Re: are u training rig dogs or not

I only hunt three to four dogs at any given time. When the main dogs strike most of the time its either a piss post or a scratch. I want the young dogs to be smelling cat every time they strike. a lot of the time they get down and eat a cat turd, but they start getting the idea of why to bark on the ...

Re: Define "Brains" in a Hound?

Wow, Seems to me the trainer needs to be smart enough to know what he has in a dog, and hunt them hard enough to get them to get them to there full potential. One thing i have learned from hunting with hounds for 39 years, is what suits me, may not suit you. I've seen good dogs in all sizes and ...

Re: Bad Habits!

Mine try to eat all the time, and act like there half deaf. Huh wonder were they get that from? From my perspective, you ca'nt make them be cat dogs. Either they got it or they do'nt 98% of them lack something and that's why most of us have more than a couple dog's to have the ingrediant's takes for ...

Re: Looking for a guy named Claunchy

If it's the same guy I'm thinking of,a guy turned in on a cat race last year that we had been trying to get and stayed jumped on. I thought I was going to have to try to give him a half bottle of happy pills though, just to keep him from digging out his can of whoop ass. Other than that he's one of ...

Re: Did anyone else have a wierd year

It's probably because the good cat hunters dogs catch every cat that they put them on. I wish I could say that, but unfortunately mine get beat every now and then. All kidding aside, there were more coyotes around this year than I have seen in a long time.

Re: CANT tree a cat!

As long as your dogs dont slick tree you'll catch cats. Some of them tree like coons. When it snows go find some cat tracks put there noses in the tracks and encourage them. Keep doing this until they start working the tracks. Once they get after a few, keep going back to where the cats were in the ...

Re: how long can a bob race be?

Over the years Ive found theres a few cats that wont tree. It takes a fast dog that sticks to the track to catch them on the ground. These cats have usually been ran alot and know how to screw the dogs, so they can stay ahead of them. They are good pup trainers and can normally be found in the same ...

Nope you surely cannot!
i'm not sure where your getting your info at,but it is legal to train hounds in our state from aug 1rst thru the end of march. It is on the state statutes. A person can train a dog to trail without the intention of catching locating ortreeing the critter. It is also legal ...

Re: Heart, desire and grit

Grit is a good thing. I owned a female cat dog that would go into a 12 inch culvert and kill a bobcat face on. She was a lay back easy going dog. My dogs will kill a cat on the ground in minutes. I feel people have a hard time distinguishing grit from aggression in dogs. I have seen to many dog ...
