Re: coon feeders

x2 on the 5 gallon bucket with the 2" pvc. fill it up, snap on the lid, and it will keep them busy for a long time. the trick is to not shoot out the coons that come in to the feeders, that way you have a spot to go and get a race going on a regular basis. Also, don't put it in a spot that already ...

Re: ANY INTREST IN JOINING WASHINGTON STATE'S COONHOUND ASSO

Hey libby, start off by reading what I wrote... then read your reply.

dee-I just believe that you need the support of all hound hunters to keep a club rolling along successfully... some may just pay dues yearly, and others may participate in every event offered. do you think ducks unlimited would ...

Re: ANY INTREST IN JOINING WASHINGTON STATE'S COONHOUND ASSO

You are probably going to find that having a club that is "not about the money, and show up or shut up" is not going to drum up much for members. Personally I have no interest in dog shows and titles, but would support a club that supports hund hunting. When you tell someone willing out of state ...

Re: Best state to be a hound hunter in?

I agree, WA is probably the worst place in the nation to have hounds. I hunt in Cali and Idaho in order to get the dogs out, and cannot wait for the day I move out of this state. You can bend and twist the laws here coonhunting, but I have spent enough money and time of mine with ridiculous BS ...

Re: California bears feeding patterns

gotcha. If you california guys ever went to northern idaho, you wouldn't leave. Anybody who enjoys hunting in that steep nasty stuff would be in paradise over there. You can leave you mountain climbing gear at home and not worry about losing your dogs for days in canyons. thanks for the tips, and ...

Re: California bears feeding patterns

when you say the east side of the valley, are you talking about the area around big bar creek, or like that kingsbury gulch area? I liked that kingsbury area, just didn't have the fresh sign that it did two years ago when I was there.

Re: California bears feeding patterns

I saw that on the map, but it looked like it may be a little rugged by how close the ol' contour lines were. I kind of puss out sometimes when I am hunting by myself. I don't have anyone to move the truck around to the bottom of the canyon to pick me up on a lower road or nothing.

Re: Warning! Dog thief in Hayfork Ca area

There are some wacked out people up there in that hayfork area that don't want anybody near them. I was told by the forest service enforcement and another local that the big thing out there is pot farming and meth making. It was probably someone who was afraid you would follow the tracking collar to ...

Re: California bears feeding patterns

I have not hunted out there yet. Also, I saw your profile mentions arkansas, I ran into another northern cali hunter named scott who was originally from arkansas. I can't remember his last name off the top of my head.

California bears feeding patterns

I am having trouble getting dialed in on what exactly the bears are taking advantage of for feed in Northern Cali. I hit the best spots I could find for acorns, but it seems like the only spots that I could stike a bear or find a track was in the straight up rocky cliffs/ trees with no roads (which ...

Re: What happened

Maybe they got a good whiff of some trash, and thought you were doing some trash training. I had a similar cougar hunting story where the cat had been in an area with elk literally running everywhere, and the dogs were back to the road with their tails tucked. Definitely frustrating, but the dogs ...

Bear hunting spots in Northern Cali?

I am looking for a spot that I could go and take my old man with me that isn't too steep and nasty. I have been to trinity before, and I know that the terrain there is too steep for dad in his current health and age. Does anyone no of an area where a guy could go and hopefully turn the dogs loose ...

Re: Ronnie Borhmann

I have a female named Minnie that Ronnie had gotten rid of that turned out awesome as well. I think it is out of the 03 litter. I know this dog had a litter mate named Mickey. She is the best bear dog I have ever owned. Has anyone found a stud dog that has worked well with this bloodline? I have not ...
