Re: Training young bear dogs with coon?

I should have been more clear and agree with last two. I only run mine on coon enough to get them trailing and treeing on their own. I also think it helps build their confidence. Once they are proficient at that, it's bear from then on...

Re: Breaking bear dogs off coon

I start all my pups on coon, bear season here isn't long enough to get a pup started trailing good. I’ve had a very high success rate just pulling them off the tree each time they do it (while bear hunting). This is aggravating at first but as the dog matures he will quit. All of my older dogs don’t ...

Re: Young dog stays too close

I'm curious to know why you think she has a high drive? It has been my experience that either someone has hollered or juiced her every time she gets out of sight, or maybe been shocked way to young which put up a imaginary fence at a certain distance, or her confidence is not at the level it needs ...

Re: Got searched yesterday.

OO,

I don't know about the laws in Maine, but I don't think your mom can give the police premission to search a vehicle that she has no control over. What I mean is, she is not in the vehicle. I would check with an attorney about that or at least ask. I know in VA if the driver of vehicle says no ...

Re: Brady Davis' GGS's

I can't speak for everyone else, but I have one of the GSXSC crosses. He is not quite a year old yet and I really like him. He is definitly more track minded at this point, b :!: t that's why I bought him. I haven't had any problems geneticly or behavioral. He is probably one of the more intelligent ...

Re: california warden show

Hey guys I have to chime in on this. The 4th amendment protects us from unlawful searches and seizures. The wardens don't have any more power than any other law enforcement officer. There is only two ways to search a vehicle, consent which is voluntary and PC/search warrant . If they have probable ...

Re: Sugar Creek x Gascon Saintongeois Cross Pups

Lt,
I didn't get a chance to expose Merlin to any bear this season. But, this burger is put up right and tough as a pine knot. After I got finished hunting yesterday, which was a total train wreck..lol. I decided to road the young dogs, as season is going out and wanted to get them all the ...

Re: False Tree

An “Ol timer” told me one time if you don’t want to be disappointed don’t hunt hounds. Sometimes, I just have to scratch my head at what mine do! Now if this was a constant problem then you might need to break the dogs up and find out whose is doing what. Ankle express is probably right on track. A ...

Re: What do you define as a caught bear

I guess a treed bearis a give me. Now a walking bayed bear is not technically "caught" if he is still walking. I do consider a bear backed up sittin on his butt or in a hole caught.
