Had some issues with dogs not doing well any colder than minus 10 centigrade.
My current and only dog though does well between about 22 celcius and -20. He'll run in colder and warmer but I'd rather not risk it.
Tip of the penis, nipples, testicles, ears, paws all seem to have the most issues. I had ...

Re: Black gold vs sportsmix
I feed a 38% protein 18% fat food during summer.
Supplemented with various Fatty oils bringing the fat % up to 21%.
During winter 39% protein 24% fat.
Dog doesn't do very well and loses weight fast on less.
Feed 3-3 1/2 cups/day for 44 pound dog.

Re: Lion hounds for Patagonia
You guys have some of the best bred dogo Argentinos down around you.
Why not use them?
Several breeders use them for cats.
Will save you a TON of money.
Just a thought.

Re: time of year?
I like to get them in the summer at 8 weeks old.
Have them bout 6 months old for cat season, 8 months old by the time its done.
They arent going to be treeing game on there own, but seem to be old enough to keep up with older dogs for short runs.
Train and train some more, then start conditioning ...

Re: bear calling
I have had more luck spot n stalk hunting that using a call with bears.
If you are going the call route, fawn in distress and rabbit distress work best.

Re: male puppy hasn't dropped testicles
Typically they drop by 8 weeks of age.
My current dogs testees didnt drop until he was 11weeks old.
If they dont drop within the next month or two then he has Cryptorchidism and i would take him to the vet for an ultrasound ect.
My buddy had a dog that had testees that didnt drop until the dog ...

Re: Adapting to wolves
We have a booming wolf population around here. They are hunted pretty hard a few months out of the year.. Not doing much to the population. Regardless, i think there are worse things out there than wolves. Am i cautious around them? Absolutely, i have never lost a dog, nor have i had any near misses ...
