Re: Wolves killed by hunters using dogs.

seems like this could eventually have huge benefits for houndsmen. if a little "fear factor" could be instilled in the wolves when they hear a hound pack, it might same some hunting dogs down the road.

Re: Idaho Wolves..Holy moly

fully mature canadian greys average 90-110 for males and 75-100 for females, that is over half of all mature adults are in that weight range. weights up to 130 are large but not unusual. past that weight is freak of nature huge and not normal. that said it doesn't matter what size they are they are ...

Re: B&Ts and youngsters...

No problem. I'm glad and appreciative of you guys that are hunting with them and helping them out. More folks ought to take some younger folks "under their wing" so to speak, to help keep younger guys going in the sport, else it'll all die out one of these days. Those boys know dogs and they know ...

Re: B&Ts and youngsters...

Its a small world. I had no idea there was anyone on this sight that I knew personally, much less someone I hunted with all season! And you forgot to mention the person who skinned and packed out the meat for you! Lol pretty good of someone who didn't get a phone call till it was over. Just joking ...

Re: Dogs catching coyotes

you guys ever get them bayed up or caught on dry ground (no snow)...the dang things are over running us here in my neck of the woods and pester a coondog to death anytime they are trailing or treeing. i'd love to start putting a little "hound fear" in them lol.

B&Ts and youngsters...

Real proud of my nephews and the dog work. 4 teenagers, 2 of our B&Ts, and one tag-a-long Walker (LOL) hunting alone found, trailed, jumped, fought, and treed this nice late season bear. Chapman's Morton Creek Preacher (our #1 coondog) is closest to the bear and Chapman's Morton Creek Smokey ...

some really old fashioned black & tans...

Just a quick little picture for folks that think that all B&Ts started out as the real big, heavy, super-long eared type....NOT TRUE, the medium eared, quick, fast, style has also always been present in the breed. Check out this handsome Black & Tan from 1852. He has a kind of big impact on modern ...

Re: Why have redbones slipped to the low end of the UKC coonhoun

Three contributing factors...1) Breeding for the bench shows without enough emphasis on ability. (self explantory)

2) Where the Red Fern Grows (requires a little explaining lol....people read the book who are not hard hunters or hunters at all, want a redbone, get a redbone, and breed more "pretty ...

Re: Nighthawk Black and tans?

Hans Wagner started registering Black and Tans in the 'teens...1913-1918 something like that. He took the best he could find that met B&T breed standards and if they made his grade, he got them registered and built up a strong foundation of dogs that caught a lot of game, like the ones below from ...

Re: Big Game B&Ts in the western US

Thanks for the replies y'all. I am familiar with the Gene Hicks bred dogs, as we are right over the hill so-to-speak from East Tennessee. Our main dog is a grandson of old Two Time Albert. We coon hunt mostly, but bear hunt some on occaision. That Albert grandson I mentioned has treed a couple of ...
