Re: Wanting a new bear gun

During kill season, I pack a Marlin 45-70 guide rifle, 18 inch barrel, no scope, stainless, lever action tough to beat, its light easy to carry through the thick brush for a bay up, and the 45-70 is good bear medicine, I had a bear turn on me bout 4 yrs ago, I shot it above its left eye at about 4 ...

Re: Kevlar Vests on Bear Hounds

I think those vests have there place for hog hunting, but don't think they would work very good for running bears, long races, over heating issues, I think it would really slow a dog down on some 8-10 mile runs we have on our bears. just my 2 cents.

Re: More DC 50 reviews

Here's my 2 cents, I decided to bite the bullet and start upgrading my older stuff, I have a 220, 8-dc 30's, and I had 2- dc 40's, I never had good luck with the 40's, (sold them) primarily used them as back ups or if I was hunting someone's dog. I like my 30's, bought a new 320, and 2-dc 50's ...

Re: prices of dogs

A dog is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.... if the market is there and the right person is looking and they are needing a top shelf dog they will/would be willing to pay a lot of money for a solid dog, (i know i would be). Any mutt can chase an easy bear, one that runs for 20 min and ...

Re: Taxadermist

Dont know what part of Oregon you live in, but Troy Rose (Artistic Taxidermy) does a very good job on cats, I have used him for years, he did a life size lion for me, really looks good, (if I knew how to post pics I would) and my son shot a lion and were getting it life sized also. He lives in ...

Re: Mike kemps line of dogs

Like Plott/walker said there was a post on this earlier, now its in the cage, read through them, there's good and bad from people, bottom line if you could find someone where you hunt, that hunts them, go with them and find out what they like and don't like about them, he has 3 dvd's available also ...

Re: Idaho Unit 32

If you can hold off a little while longer I would, there is still alot of snow up there, depending where you are heading you won't make it very far, and if you get one that wants to go over the top you will be walking along ways. This is one of the mildest springs we've seen in a long time. I just ...

Re: Spaying a female ?

I have 8 dogs, 6 are females, of the 6, 5 of them are spayed. You will have no problems with them losing any aggression. Unless you plan on having pups out of her, get her spayed, you can hunt her year around and not have to worry about another dog getting her if you hunt with other people, if not ...

Re: 4 wheeler tire

You can't go wrong with a set of Bighorn Maxxis, there do well in snow and mud. I have a set for my Griz, and another friend has them on his polaris rzr, they are great tires. 26x8x12 fronts, 26x10x12 rears, is one size up from stock.

Re: ATV tracks vs snowmobiles for liion hunting?

Here is my 2 cents for what it's worth. I also have a sled and Grizzly 700 with tracks (TJD) I rarely use my sled, the wheeler will go everywhere i want it to, in just about every snow condition, none to 3' deep or deeper, i have only had it stuck once and i had a ton of bear bait on my wheeler and ...
