Re: Airedales
My airedale has run of the place at home and won't be left behind going hunting. He has great endurance brains and grit. Mine (partner) isn't quite as wired as some i have seen, but he is a great addition to my pack. He has a medium nose but makes up for it in brains and always is in the middle of ...

Re: The build of your dogs?
He's outstanding, he's medium nosed but tons of brains and grit. He trees good for an airedale. They are terriers not hounds so they are different but he is a great addition to my pack.

Re: The build of your dogs?
To get back on topic I personally (just my opinion mind you) prefer a tall athletic 65-75 pound male and about a 55-60 pound female. The type of country and the deep snow that I cat hunt in, my tall dogs have always out performed in the long run. I have had a couple going little 40 lb machines that ...

Re: how often do your lion dogs trash on bear?
Here in Montana we don't have a bear chase season but while I was roading dogs on the frozen bare ground in april this year we had a ripper of a strike(too fast and furious for a lion start). I was about to start pushing buttons but they hadn't been on trash all season, and we looked around for any ...

Re: Any christian houndsmen out there.
Best decision I ever made was to trust Christ with my life. He has led me down a path that has proved to me, that what He sees for my life is far greater than anything I could have ever seen for myself. It's all about a personal relationship with him. I pray that all of your hounds will be a tool ...

Re: HOUND HUNTER 3200 SHOCKER BY SPORTDOG
I have used one of these systems for the last few years. It has served it's purpose but I have had some issues with it. I got mine because I was able to get it for around 150 bucks on a clearance rack at the farm store (don't know why it was but I jumped at it) and at the time that was the deciding ...

Re: Bear in Montana with hounds????
Tell me if there is anything i could do up here. I could get together the names and contact a pile of the houndsmen from this part of the country if that was a benefit in any way. call me at 406-854-9442 if I can help at any level. I would be willing to invest my time and resources to this.

Re: DRY GROUND HOUNDS? what does it take?
This is an interesting topic and in some ways don't feel like i'm the fellow in the know but have to agree with pretty much all of you. I live up here in nw montana and most years have pretty decent snow conditions during the legal chase season of dec to april. This year the snow hasn't been here ...

Re: I love spring hunting.
I agree with you Mike Leonard whole heartedly. We have had spring like conditions up here in montana since the end of January and have been roading and casting dog for the most part for a couple months. Our very dynamic temperature swings and diverse terrain make for some challenging races but ...

Thanks for posting your stories and pictures. It seems like your guy's dogs are really doing what you guys were looking for when you went to the leopards. I hope that when my boys get bigger that they will enjoy with me the experiences that you are getting to share with your dad and dogs. Thank that ...

Re: Looking for cammeron bluetick, need help
I hunt Jim Harrells strain of blueticks and consider him a very honest individual. He works very hard to continue to not just keep what he has but improve consistantly upon it while keeping to his family line. His is a very uniform line of dogs. These blues please me everyday in the woods in all ...

Re: How Many dogs do you have and how many to you hunt at a time
I try to keep about four or five finished dogs and a couple pups around. Right now I have 5 adults and no pups but will probably be getting a couple this spring to replace the old timers. Up here in montana when we have snow it seems like if you throw more than 3 or 4 dogs in on a old cat track in ...
