Cruciate Ligament

One of my best dogs has just had cruciate ligament replacement surgery. Has anyone been through this, and what are the chances of a complete recovery.

Re: Bobcat track age.

I am amazed at your hounds scenting abilities. Since I have joined this forum the ability to take hour old tracks and to turn them into caught cats has fascinated me the most. I try and hunt caracal on my farm in South Africa and I believe the tracks that I pick up are very hot (30 minutes at most ...

Hi Riley
Cannot believe it, but no heart worm in South Africa. I thought that we had every disease known to man.

Riley, she is that age. I am concerned and will take her to the vet. Otherwise her health seems excellant.

Coughing dog

One of my hounds has developed a dry cough. Notice it more when the hounds are off loaded from the truck in the early morning. Not sure what are causes of coughing in dogs, but have heard of kennel cough. I dont want the symptom to worsen and any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks Kenneth

Re: Anyone got suggestions?

Hi Mike
I have not read many hunting books as I live in South Africa. I would definately recommend "Meet Mr Grizzly". One crazy, intelligent Englishmen.

Re: windy days?

I walk hunt my hounds and start off into the wind. The dogs often dont seem to be as interested and energetic when the wind is strong. I dont know if anyone has had this experience.

Fox and bobcat books

Hi I live in South Africa and try and hunt jackal and caracal with my hounds. The most simialr comparision in US i think would be red fox and bobcat. Would anyone know a good hound book on these subjects? I am interested in info on hounds as well as hunting. Cheers

Re: double heat? or xtra long heat?

What is the average length of time you keep a bitch in heat away from your other hounds? I dont want the bitch to get pregnant of course. Thanks Kenneth

Re: Book Life of The Greatest Guide

Hi Brent
I could possibly be interested in the book. The major problem is that I live in South Africa and would somehow have to get payment to you. The other factor is the price.

Re: Hello from South Africa

Hi Mikes Hero I am 50 miles from Somerset East.
Perk i tried to send you a PM hopefully you get it. I dont have any ridgebacks. They are beautiful dogs but I dont think they will help you in fox hunting. They are quite heavy and I dont know about their nose or stamina. I am sure you know a lot more ...
