My thoughts exactly when one of the BC cronies tried to sell me a bear hound from Kansas.Steve White wrote:Knew that would rile the BC chronies![]()
Never had one never will. Won't have dogs that are not coming from dogs that are not being hunted on the game on a consistent basis. Not many bears in Kansas.

Florida BMCs that I hunt with do well on Coyotes. Most dogs like that will run them if they aren't broke.

Re: houndmen/money?
if you are talking about those who profit by selling cull dogs, make sure you hunt with anyone you get a dog from. Hunt with the dog and check them out before you buy. Its best to buy a dog you know. Seems pretty simple. When i didn;t do this, i had some very mediocre dogs. Now I have some much ...

If you are in Big Country running long races from your truck I suggest that you invest in a large external truck mount Broadband Antenna that is maximized for the entire 2 meter (VFH) frequency. Shakespere makes a 6' broadband that can be used for any drequency from 144-220mhz. Its about $400 but ...

That's why I like English, they come in all colors. That way I only worry if the dog hunts the way I like here in the swamps of South Florida. Might as well go with the original, or with a PlottOutlaw 3 wrote:but I don't care if a dog is green or purple as long as they get it done.

Re: Tag Team Bears Did you ever have this happen
last year during training season we sent in the hounds on our feeder block and had 5 bears run out of the block. None of them treed. The largest one was run off the club by the older experienced dogs, and they ran it in place we could not access for 36 hours. Talk about a cluster.

it sounds like the dogs that were packed into her on that mean hog might have had a different agenda.
a 7 year old dog is not going to quit what she has been doing because of one bad hog.
maybe two bad dogs ???????????
The guys dogs might have jumped on her, which I have seen before and it can ...

Re: Coonhound vs. Big Game Hound
Smiley hit on the key to a bear dog that most fail to concider. Mental toughness! The ability to take a licking and keep on ticking! Bear whipped dogs are dogs lacking in mental toughness. Let a bear run the dog down and maul him real good, IF he will go right back and ask for more, he is a bear ...

Re: how succesful can a one or two dog pack be for bear?
Depends on the bear, depends on the dogs.
If you want to just chase some bears around, 2 will be fine. On the right bears, you'll punch some up some trees.
If you want to hunt hard for a month straight in kill season, I'd suggest having 6-8 and a buddy/two with the same. Bring 5-6 and leave 2-3 ...

Where do you think the brindle comes from?UphillDoc wrote:Plottpappaw-You suppose the reason the Plotts have the bad rep as dog fighters among hounddoggers is from a lil bulldog blood runnin in their veins? I suspect many of the Ol time Plott men had plenty of use for a bulldog.
Take care.

Florida Big Game - Swamp Posh Kennels
Hi my name is Richard and I run hounds for big game here in South Florida as well as in North Carolina. I hunt mainly hounds but also have some cur dogs.
I have a big bluetick female (no papers but many think its a cameron dog) that is a finished dog on bear and hogs. She also has the knack to tree ...
