Re: How young do you Start a Pup?

Great discussion, it comes on the heels of me spending a fair amount of time this summer reading Pfaffenberger, Konrad Lorenz and Eberhard Trumler. Reading works by animal behaviorists instead of just "dog training" books has been eye opening, but when the science is backed up by real world ...

Re: How young do you Start a Pup?

John,

In raising the pups around house cats, do you find they grow up considering house cats to be off game ? Do you find it easier to break them off other off game as they get older if they are taught house cats are off game at an early age ?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

3 year old Arab gelding for sale

I bought 3 yearlings a couple years ago as project horses, just to get them started so others could safely ride them. I sold the two stock horses but have one registered Arab left to sell. Rudy is a very quiet, people oriented horse. Is well started under saddle, picks up the correct lead ...

Re: Source for very nice Blowing Horns

I've wanted a blowing horn for a long time, so when I saw these I decided to buy one.
Don did a terrific job, mine has some nice coon tracks and my name for art work.
He made it promptly and it was delivered fast and packed well. I'd highly recommend his work
whether it be for in the field or for ...

Re: which cur breed

cat hntr,

Which strains of mtn cur did you hunt and which strain of leopards are you hunting now ? I'd like to hear more about what you like about the leopards vs the mtn curs. I have one of each (the leopard is only 8 months though) and like them both but I like to hear others thoughts on how they ...

Re: NEW SPORT DOG TEK REVIEW BY STEVE SNELL

I saw the ad for the new Sport Dog units in this past issue of Full Cry. If it worked really well, I'd really like to have one, however a couple years ago I bought a sportdog e-collar unit with a beeper, I've had numerous incidents when I've been only 50-100 feet away from my dogs and I've tried to ...

Re: Cur dogs

I keep hearing good things about Stephens and the people who have them seem to like them. . I don't have any experience with them , in fact I don't think I've even seen one in person, I'm wondering why they aren't more common?

Re: Cur dogs

Kenneth- sounds like you might have a nice cross.

bristoblue's- While I primarily coon hunt, and the races aren't real long, I have noticed my cur never seems ready to quit. I can hunt for hours and she's still ready for more. I'm generally ready to quit long before she is .

Re: Cur dogs

Thanks for the replies.

porkchop- are your stephens open ? I don't know a lot about the breed other than what I've read in Full Cry.
I've noticed there are a few western states guys using them. Are they the same lines as the ones out east ?

If anyone has experience with several cur breeds ...

Re: Airedales

I've got one that's 11 months old, I really like him. I don't have nearly the hound experience many of you have but I feel this dog has as much desire as any other hunting dog I've ever owned. Like many others said, he's smart, I can let him run loose in the yard and he'll stick around yet be ready ...

The mule arrived Sunday, man is she huge! She's about 16 to 16-2 hands. I look out in the morning and think a moose has wandered in the pasture. She does seem very gentle and definitely not very ...

Mule question

First of all I'd like to say how much I enjoy this section of the site, I love the pictures especially the ones from out west and always like to see pictures of horses actually getting used. I finally bought a new camera to replace my old, broken one so I hope to add to the pictures soon.

Now for ...
