Re: Giant bear lollipop for bait (hard candy with a chain in
I use bear suckers as baits. They work pretty good but not amazing. You didn't get it hot enough is your problem. Get a candy thermometer to use (they cost about $10). You need to get the the corn syrup and sugar boiling and it has to reach 320 degrees or the hard crack stage. Don't over cook or you ...

Re: *Idaho Hound hunters please read*
I am not sure why they are doing this all of a sudden. It's probably like lrscott1 said and it's to get more bears killed in 7 and 9. You guys in 10a better watch out. They will make you guys start training in 10 and 12.

*Idaho Hound hunters please read*
The Idaho fish and game is trying to change our spring training season for bear in the panhandle. They are proposing to take away the July portion of the season for units 4, 4a and 6. These are the best units in the panhandle and the most accessible. IDFG is saying we can just go to units 7 and 9 ...

Re: wrestling
That is pretty awesome. If he gets the chance he should go to either Minnesota or Iowa. Those two are easily the best wrestling colleges. The match between the two schools used to draw 15,000 people to the match. Imagine wrestling under the light with that many people watching. Pretty dang exciting.

Re: Proposal to End California Hound Hunting
You guys should try and get the US Sportsmans Alliance, SCI, the NRA(they can throw some weight around) and any other groups that have national backing and help with from a legal team. You wanna get this squashed quick before it gets out of hand. I have never hunted California but have always really ...

Re: Runnin hounds in washington st
DON'T DO IT unless your moving to the Colville Res! You can't hunt anything but coons here. Washington is an anti houndsman state. You should convince your wife that Idaho is a much better state to retire in.

Re: Idaho's 2011 wolf season
$154.75 for for a non resident hunting license and $186 for a wolf tag. I think they might offer a reduced tag price of $31 in certain areas. come on up and bring all your friends, we got lots to go around. Unit 4 has tons along with every other unit in the panhandle. If you decide to come up let me ...

What brought you to coeur D'alene? Bear season ends this weekend but starts up again aug. 30th in units 7 and 9. Tell us a little about yourself. There is lots of hound hunters around cda but I'm not sure how many are on here. If your looking to get dogs you can start by getting a forest service map ...

Re: Idaho's 2011 wolf season
Thanks for all the replies. This may be a dumb question but my state outlaws anything fun like trapping and hounding. So how does a conibear trap work? I've seen pics of them and I think I know how but just not quite sure. Do they make them big enough to trap wolves?

Idaho's 2011 wolf season
The proposals for Idaho's wolf hunt came out today. The season is august 30 to march 31 and you can purchase 2 tags. There are only quotas in a few places and luckily where I hunt is not one of them. They are also proposing having a trapping season from December 1 to February 15. This I don't know ...

Re: idaho unit 4a
I don't hunt that unit but I think the lakeview area gets hit pretty hard. You should have no problem getting on a bear though. They are really moving now. Independence creek is right there next to gold creek too and that's a pretty big hole with few roads around it. Good luck this weekend. get out ...

Re: Suggestions needed
I sure am glad I have not purchased any tags or permit apps yet, as i have decided to not waste any of my money in this state for any hunting. I will now spend it in Idaho and have better hunting opportunities and more game to hunt. The only problem is I have to choose if I want to hunt Elk Or Deer ...

Re: Idaho Houndsmen need your help
Hounddude,
Basically what I'm getting out of that is I would not be able to bring my wife hunting with me with out that little special permit or anyone else I wanna show our great sport to. I think your going about it all wrong. If you get the female quotas lowered that's what will save cat ...

Re: feeding
I do in the winter time just so I know they get the proper amount. Water freezes pretty fast outside on days like today. It was 15 today here, if you put water out the dogs have to drink all the water for the day in 30 minutes. They drink it all up when it tastes like dog food and I think they like ...
