Re: Maxima vs Classic?

dubl_t, yes the fold out antenna on them are good.........but sometimes you need greater range and the ones with the SMA will allow you to connect to a yagi antenna to get it. The Maxima Completes (red unit) they come standard. On the Maximas (blue unit) not all have the SMA.

Re: Maxima vs Classic?

mine will only run 217 freq

That is because yours is the 217/1000 model...............but you had said the maxima can run 1000 collars on 1 frequency and the maxima complete can run 1000 on a bunch of different frequensies. I was pointing out that the Maxima (blue model) is not limited to 1000 ...

Maxima and Maxima Complete- multiply dogs and choice of single channel or muliply channels on both units.

houndnem, the Maxima (blue unit) can run on multiply freq just like the Maxima Complete (red unit) - not just 1000 channels.

Matter of fact, Valley Creek has a ...

Re: Regarding lights, is 6v's enough?

The Critter Getter is designed more for a youth light -- even VC has mentioned it.

As far as the LED's -- If you want the best LED lights, they are the $175 - $200 LED heads hooked to a 17v or higher battery pack. - So almost double your price range.

You have to remember on these little LED bump ...

Re: Regarding lights, is 6v's enough?

I know you said under $200 but just a little more you can get you a 20V Valley Creek Belt Light ($235) or 17v Mini Blazer Box Light (very light $225).....I have both and they have taken the abuse.

My son has a 6V Valley Creek Box Light that also has held up...........but I would use 17v or higher ...

Re: unreal..misdiagnosed panosteitis NOW advanced pneumonia!

Sorry to hear that.....That link I had posted in your other thread had some good info in diagnosing pano ---- did they do those checks/test to come to the conclusion of pano in the begining or just take their best educated guess?

Years ago I went to a vet that diagnosed a problem just by looking at ...

To verify it's ringworm, take a black light to it as it will glow...............sometimes hotspots can give the impression of ringworms.

Re: problems with 14 weeki old hound.... PANOSTEITIS

Pano is commonly seen in Basset Hounds....Haven't see much on it in the bigger hounds being mentioned on the forums -- I am sure some have had the problem.

Here is some more reading on Pano if you haven't read this one:
