Re: do yotes line out or circle
In our area it depends on the terrain and the conditions. If the snow is deep you can't hardly get them in the open without a lot of pressure. In the open country, the smart ones will line out and skirt the edge of the woodlots without going in at all while staying in the middle of the sections ...

Re: 1`st yote run of the season
Nice job, nice looking red dogs Are you hunting farm country? or State land? I'm jealous, Would like to do some daytime running. We're doing some nite running still but the bowhunters started up 10/1 our dogs would have arrows sticking in them if we tried day running.

10-4 on the tricky interstates dairyfarmer. 2 of our honey holes are right on the interstate they always know where they're safe. We had 3 dogs 100 yards off the zoomer running parallel about 500 yards behind the coyote last winter. The coyote hits a big fencerow, spooks a bunch of deer, guess where ...

Re: Plotts downfalls running coyotes?
Alex, yes they are ukc reg. I'm not a good stats guy or bloodlines study, although I am starting to pay alittle more attention to lines now. Came from a local guy here in MI. Some of the blood behind them is Weems, Roarks, Cascade, Dillingham. Average 35- 40 caught each winter the majority in Jan ...

Re: Plotts downfalls running coyotes?
Alex, the Plotts are 45-50- lbs. Male and female littermates. I can't take any credit for the reason they have worked well for us other than we put them in the woods.. alot. I would say genetics has as much to do with it as anything. The male for example was owned by a neighbor who is a pretty ...

Re: Plotts downfalls running coyotes?
After 20 yrs. of running coyotes with hounds, and trying about every breed you can think of, I can say we have had the most success with a pair of littermate Plotts we are using now. They keep their feet better than anything we have tried, and will not quit.

Re: coyote packs
The winter is when they pair up for breeding. Those pups better disperse if they know what's good for them.
