Re: Border Wars TV Show
I was thinking the same thing. I would have to go with the blackmouth cur or catahoula(spelling???). I would think either of these dogs would fit the bill. The dogs would just have to be bay dogs as the border patrol doesn't like one with much bite in them. I know several handlers that had to get ...

Re: Small Guns
The 250-3000 is one of my all time favorites. I have had numerous rifles in the caliber both stock and custom and loved them all. Remington came out with it in the Model 700 Classic some years back and I had one and kick myself for ever letting a person buy that and the same model in 257 roberts ...

Why would you use a 250-3000 when there are so many other good deer rounds available. Maybe 60 years ago it was a good round but with so many better loads available now, you should you should upgrade to the 257 weatherby or something more common and easier to find ammo for. Its hard to even ...

Re: 100% broke dogs and pups born 100% broke???
i try to learn more with my eyes and ears than my mouth, but i couldn't help myself. have seen some pretty amazing claims on here and truly enjoy the free entertainment. i personally have never owned a 100% broke hound, and believe those that have it's because a certain percent of the time don't ...

Re: 100% broke dogs and pups born 100% broke???
I have been around the competion circut myself and we all know how that game is played. Running a deer would be the last thing i would worry about my dogs running.

Re: 100% broke dogs and pups born 100% broke???
Well slow and easy i do happen to know what my coonhounds run and that is coon . they don't run deer ,fox ,rabbit ,porkupine ,possum or any other thing then what they were trained to run , not saying that they never did in the process of training ,but i make it a point to teach them right from ...

Re: Dollins Hicks Crow X Hortons Jessie
Bred Sept. 3, 2010 Sometimes things are taken out of your hands. This should be a good cross though. Though I am sure not needing any pups, Jessie has made a name for herself on bear and I was lucky to get her and want to continue the line.

Re: new gun calibers
they have there purpose i suppose, but personally i would never take a shot on any big game animal at that yardage. i think it is impractical and unetheical. i like to take a shot that i am sure of that isnt going wound the animal. 900 yards is fine for shooting prairie dogs, but is unessesary in ...

Re: new gun calibers
my theore is, you have alot of people running out and buying these ultra mags thinking that they are going to be able to hit a deer or elk at 500+ yards automatically just cause the gun is capable of it, people dont consider the fact you have to compensate for wind as well as trajectory at these ...

Re: Successful Breedings
One superstar in a litter isn't enough to redo it for me... They'd have to damn near all be superstars to consider a repeat. I consider 7 out of 10 (70% at least) that make ABOVE AVERAGE dogs, that can catch game ALONE, a success. They might not be flashy, once in a lifetime dogs, but be consistent ...

Re: PICKING YOUR KEEPERS FROM A LITTER
In my opinion we usually pick pups like ones that have turned out like pups before that turned out. Which works if the culling has been done before. Some pups just don't work out. To really be able to tell one needs to keep the hole litter. I feel some of the best pups are being culled to early you ...
