Re: Rig Cages on front bumper
I had a real nice one on a receiver hitch on front, it was OK but made my truck too long for some Kelly humps and creek crossings. I used it in Vermont, New Mexico, Idaho and Alaska. It's cool to see exactly who's striking what and when but in the end not worth it for my hunting. I get good rig ...

Re: Wolves digging up traps.
I would pay attention with what RockyMountainKangal is saying........I have one digging me now, thought it was pan cover (wax paper) -switched to coffee filter, no help. This wolf Also digs empty (fake) trap beds, so trap cleanliness not the issue. Thought it might be tuned in to purchased urine ...

Re: Training off Brown Bears
Expose your dogs to black bears. You have lots of opportunity right now to glass blackies on blueberries and walk the dogs into them, or check small feeder streams for spawning salmon, and freecast on ones with only blackie sign.

Re: Any Fellow Alaskan houndsmen here?
Zach, I P.M'd you. Most of the area Bios in Alaska allow up to 6 hounds on a bear, and also most northern states use 6 as the maximum hounds on the ground-have him call Boyd Porter, ADF&G in Ketchikan- he's permitted me for quite a few years now with no problems. It's a good law, too many dogs and ...

Re: need bear dogs for Alaska and any contacts here you have
Did you find some dogs? I've been running Washburn/Finley River walkers in Alaska since 1995 and have a litter ready to go now.

Re: Alaska
Hi Bearkiller- I run hounds in Alaska. I have a real good time doing it. Right now I am running 3 Washburn bred walkers (all going back to Buford) and we catch 80% of what we start. The key is having intelligent hounds- by that I mean dogs that check in on a no-start freecast and come in if wolves ...

Re: Any bear hunters near palmer/wasilla AK
Try Conrad Belgarde of Kodiak Masonry, he has some good dogs- used to have mostly walkers but he loves those redbones. He's right there in Wasilla. Also- get real good at checking tracks on your rig strikes, there are lots of brownies there even in the subdivisions, and the dogs can't tell the ...
