They do get to 180lbs a 16 yr old kid got one that weighed in right at 180 up the st. joe during the season a couple years ago that was weighed and certified by f and g. But i dont care if they are 18lbs or 180lbs shoot them all.

The cat probebly treed and your pup just couldn't locate it , bobs are hard to locate for younger dogs there not like a bear or lion that leaves alot of scent. It takes time and work with older dogs to get a hang on locating those things.

lions can be struck pretty easy, it seamed to me when i lived in washington you would have a good chance of startin a rack after it had rained the previous night in fact the first lion i ever caught i struck the last day of a cougar permit in whatcom county.
