Re: How much to feed walkers in the off season

For my dogs I like to be able to feel ribs (not have to dig for them) but not be able to see them or should not be able to see hip bones or back bones, the dog shouldn't have saggy belly or fat rolls on hips. Re: Tail whipper issues.

I have a couple dogs that do that every once in awhile. I put a small amount of gauze and duck tape on the tip of the tail until it healed and it works. Hope this helps.

Re: Blood Hounds + Hunting = ???

I have a 3 year old male Blood that we hunted on bear in California when is was allowed and we use him for fox and coon here in SW Oregon. He is not the grittiest dog won't get to close but will stay with a mean bear and will kill a coon or fox in seconds if caught I the ground. He trees fairly well ...

Re: small hounds on bear

I run a small 35-40lb walker female that is my grittiest dog, she can run harder and longer than any of my bigger 60-80lb dogs. She has no quit and has been hit a few times and still had to be pulled off hours later. When I need a dog to put pressure on game I throw her in.

Flea/Tick ?

I was wondering what everyone else does about fleas/ticks.
I don't have an issue with fleas, but i do have an issue with ticks. I have used the topical flea and tick stuff like frontline but I don't like how it leaves the dogs greasy and how the dirt sticks to it. I have also used tick collars ...

Re: I appoligize to you all

I just wish there were more hound hunters out there like you. Just because you tree it, does not been you need to shoot it. Good job and keep up the good work.
