Re: gps tracking systems good bad ugly

Unfortunately you can't get the best of both worlds (from the Marshall and Astro) yet. I purchased the Astro right before this lion season and I do love it. Since I bought the Astro I have never had to get the beep-beep out. However I do try to staty right behind my hounds when I turn loose. The ...

A few more up...A great weekend.

Took the red dogs out this weekend and put a few more cougars up the tree. We treed two on Saturday and one on superbowl Sunday. What a great way to spend the weekend.

Here is the first one all of the hounds put up on Saturday.

Re: Too Young

He isnt going to catch a lion on the end of his leash. If you want to walk a dog its much easier to do that at home. If you want him to hunt turn him loose. I would recomend walking the track all the way to the tree because he is probably going to get screwed up a few times, but be persistant and ...

Walt Earl would be another one. He has killed a lot of lions for a lot of years.

Re: how many coons in one night.

Waylon,

I was not exaggerating by any means and was being truthful. The 11 coon night was more luck than anything. I am very fortunate to live where I live. I can literally open my front gate and release the hounds into some of the better coon hunting in Montana (still nothing compared to other ...

Re: how many coons in one night.

On average I catch two to three a night (about 1.5 - 2 hour hunt). I have caught as many as 11 in one night (one tree had 4 coons in it though; another had 2; the rest were singles). Our coon population around here is mediocre at best. Montana (or at least where I reside) does not have a large ...

Re: Garmin long range antennas

Does anybody know off hand what frequency the Garmin 220 and collars are using out of the box? Will changing these frequencies help any with long range capabilities.

This is true. I hunt the surrounding areas and even that particular region. There were four cats taken that day (3 yearling toms and 1 female).

Thanks Mark. They have turned out to be pretty good hounds. Sooner or later I would like to make it up your way. Anyway, talk to you soon.

Re: More Cougar Pics - A Great Chase!

Helvik,

what lense do you use to capture the closeups?

I'm looking to upgrade to an SLR and have heard good things about the D200.

Thanks!

I use a Sigma 300mm lense for the close-ups. As far as quality goes it does a good job and is not too terribly expensive. It also is not too bulky to pack ...

Re: More Cougar Pics - A Great Chase!

Just curious what kind of camera you use. Very nice looking photos.

I use a Nikon D200 Digital SLR (single lense reflex) for taking my photos. Great Camera but it is a little expensive and heavy to pack around.

Nice pics, did you jump her off a kill? Looks like she has a bit of a belly on her ...

More Cougar Pics - A Great Chase!

We caught this beautiful speciman on Sunday. I was able to shoot her with my camera; what an incredible animal! I was able take with me on this hunt a couple of my students (I am a school teacher if you didn't know). They got to see their first live cougar. It was fun to share the experience and ...

Excellent pictures!

How's that new Tundra working out for you? It looks quite different from the older ones. What engine did they put in it?

Good looking outfit and dogs!

I love the new Tundra; it does everything that I want it to do. They put a 550 fan engine in the 2010. It has a 154 inch ...
