Re: Raising hounds pack style... some ?s

Theres more than one way to skin a cat, and apparently theres more than one way to raise your hounds too. I understad everyone's way of thinking here, and it does make sense to me for the most part, but my main concern with some of these methods is that of Andy's... "If you start mixing males with ...

Raising hounds pack style... some ?s

I am curious as to how you folks who raise hounds together as one pack in a single pen, make it work? I have not kept more than two dogs together in a single pen before. I have two young hounds now and will be adding an older hound soon. I already see a possible problem at feeding time. As you can ...

Re: New guy... with many questions

Thank you guys for all the advice! I was invited to go on a chase this next weekend near my area. The guy said he may also have a hound to sell that is well hunted. He said the hound wasn't much on bobs, but it loves coon. I don't spose this would be the right choice for training my pups that I ...

Re: Mondak Coonhunters Association

Sorry for my ignorrance, I should have looked around on here more carefully. I found it also in the Clubs section. I thought it was a fresh club that few knew about yet, by bad. Just found out about it surfing around. We can let this post wither away.

Mondak Coonhunters Association

I recently discovered a new club for our Mondak region. They have UKC and AKC Bench Show and Night Hunts. Just wanted to bring this to attention for others in our area who never knew it existed. This could be a great thing for us out-of-the-way houndsman. For more information call Chase @ 406-224 ...

New guy... with many questions

Hello everyone. I'll explain my situation and then ask my questions to whomever may help me.

I am currently raising two 5 mo old Blues. I am in the process of giving the hounds there manners, bonding, and getting them out in the hills as much as possible. I have played countless games using a ...

Re: hound and bird dog pups whats your idea?

Not sure if this is usefull or not, but a few years ago I had a young untrained German Wirehair That accompanied me out in the hills. At about 40 yards a good sized bob popped up out of a wash-out in the middle of a sloping grass field. the Wirehair chased the cat about 260 yards until it treed in ...

Beginning houndsman from the cold high plains.

Hello to you all!

I finally took the plunge from wanting to run hounds, to actually doing it. I trained and ran bird dogs (mainly pointing breeds) for many years. I guided for upland birds with dogs aside with my dog training business, and enjoyed it all for the most part. However, I always wished ...
