Ok but what I'm wondering is how to determine what strength of nose your dog has. how do you know if it's cold nosed, medium nosed or hot nosed? Is it determined by the age of a track or is it by how long it takes your dog to actually see the animal from the time you put the dog on the track? So if ...

Thanks for the input. It's been a good book so far. Haven't had much time to read lately so I haven't made it very far into the book yet. Seems to be pretty good writing. Is a book like that, even with a bad dust jacket worth anything?

Have any if you hound book collectors ever heard of an author by the name of Fred Gipson? I have a book called Hound-Dog Man published in 1947. Just curious as to how popular/rare this book might be. The cover is in bad shape but the book itself is in excellent condition for its age.

I keep hearing that the islands out there are the hot spots. Are the islands concidered private or public land? I've got two hounds and would love to go with someone who knows the area or might have some spots to hunt. My dogs are not aggressive in any way.
