Re: Bruce Kennedy Videos

I have not been on here in a long time. Seeing this topic made me remember something and made me laugh. I bought these for my husband when they became available.

His favorite part...bar none......is when the interviewer asks Mr. Fry (NV) what advice would he give a young aspiring lion hunter? Mr ...

Re: Dale Lee question

If the question of bobcats vs. lions ever was discussed? Particularly, with regard to if he felt they smelled a lot different and the ability of a dog to differentiate between the two?

Thanks. Have a safe trip.

Re: Question for you experienced lion hunters

One more thing and then we are out permanently.

Folks dry ground lion hunting is the most challenging endeavor one can pursue with trailing hounds! With out a doubt....like we said previously we have hunted all over and and all tree game. It is something that is never mastered because there are so ...

Re: Question for you experienced lion hunters

Anyone that has walked behind a true bobcat dog would understand my thoughts. Yes there are always exceptions. Lions for the MOST PART IN MOST AREAS it doesn't take much of a dog to catch them. Andy

Ignorance: lack of knowledge or experience

When you use the word "......catch......." it ...

Not really......maybe in the snow or on a jumped track. Not from start to finish in the SW on dirt with annual precip. of 8 inches and less. Sorry to disagree with you.

Re: Neuter? or not to neuter

We have had a lot of luck putting a male that is acting like that in with a dominant female that will not tolerate males smelling her when she is not in season and receptive. A female like this will break that young male of that bad behavior in most cases. That male would live with that female and ...

Re: Excuses

One we heard just the other day from a friend who had a guy hunting with him. Our friend is the "real McCoy bear hunter", we do not bear hunt. After the guys dogs quit a bayed bear and our friends dog stuck and ended up treeing the bear........the statement was "these are top hounds if the bear goes ...

Re: Wolves killed by hunters using dogs.

You boys might be interested in the chapter called American Wolf Hounds in Fred Streever's book, The American Trail Hound published in 1948.

In it he discusses using fox hounds to run and kill wolves in New York in the mid 1930's. So it has been done before. There is a picture of one killed ahead ...

Re: ? about fox

Gray and red fox definitely smell different with red fox being the stronger smelling of the two. It has been suggested to us by old time lion hunter that gray fox are more cat like in their smell than canine -like. I know we have had problems in the past keeping various dogs from trailing grays.

We ...

Re: How do you houndsman toughin up you're hounds feet?

We were at camp hunting with an ole'timey lion hunter friend of ours and this topic came up.

Synopsis of his opinions and ours:

poor feet are a product of genetics, poor conditioning and the hounds' way of travel (i.e., light as a feather on its feet vs. plow horse heavy) , and substrate being ...

Dodge Cummins or Chevrolet Duramax????

We are looking into replacing a truck and have decided on one of the two, Dodge or Chevy.

Any opinions and advice and chronic problems about these two rigs would be greatly appreciated. With what they want for pick ups nowadays it is an important decision.

Thanks.

Honda is coming out with a UTV this fall. It is called the Big Red. As far as the polaris anything, we have used them daily on the ranch in very steep country and do not like them because of their engine braking system. We found it to be dangerous in the steeper country, 45 - 60 degree inclines and ...
