Re: How many dogs?
For many years I only hunted with one dog and had no problems, put we hunted very deferently back then. It was all about killing cats. Now it is more about the chase and the dogs. So the more dogs you turn loose the better. Cats are easy to tree so it is fun when the dogs mess up sometimes. And ...

Re: fuel for thought on cat pop. in mt.
Something we need to be aware of this year when cat hunting starts is guy's trapping for wolves. Houndsman's need to be aware of the area's you are turning loose and where the trap lines are. We need to help these trappers as much as posible. If we find an area where wolves are running, we need to ...

Re: fuel for thought on cat pop. in mt.
I had a very good book signing in Choteau, put did not have any houndsman stop by and chat, put I talked to a lot of big game hunters, they are not happy about the predators period. I spent a couple of hours with Jim at F&G the other day and talked about some kind of board. I do not think he is ...

Re: draw results in oregon
It is pretty tough to draw tags in Mt. too. Another year without a moose tag. been putting in sense I was 12 years old. Cannot complain to much though I drew a rocky Mountain big Horn Sheep permit about 18 years ago out of Libby Mt. Shot a 42 and a half inch ram scored about 190 points. That was ...

Re: fuel for thought on cat pop. in mt.
Bigblues, I do not think you are off subject. I am the one that steered off course. It is hard for me to just set back if people think there is a problem. I think up to this point I have stayed sort of neutral on whether we have to many cats or not. I hunt in 100, 101 and 109 mostly. Like you I ...

Re: fuel for thought on cat pop. in mt.
I would like to respond to Tug's comments, in order. Untill wolves came along hunters and big cats were the only things that kept the cat pop. in check. Did not need to spend a ton of money to figure that one out. You also have to realize there is always going to be more deer and elk hunters out ...

Re: fuel for thought on cat pop. in mt.
I went to the wolf meeting last night. As many people that hate wolves, I would have thought more people would have showed up. I think there was about 80 people there, put I understand people get fusterated over the process, it just takes time. I think the local F&G are on the right track, put it ...

Re: fuel for thought on cat pop. in mt.
I have been asked if these meetings are worth going to. I know the fustration when you go to these meeting and nothing gets done. It has happened to me a lot. The locale F&G has rules that are set in place by congress and higher agency's and they have a tough job. The regulation that they are ...

Re: fuel for thought on cat pop. in mt.
I am back from Alaska. Had a good visit with my two daughters in Fair Banks. We saw a lot of game going up and back. No fishing, water to high and muddy just like here. We did leave a day too early. The morning we were going to leave my wife took her dog out side and while out there along with our ...
