Re: Pull the trigger? It's your choice
A lot of houndmen go out of State to run their hounds but have to buy an expensive tag to do so. It is too bad States don't have a pursuit only tag at a much cheaper rate. It may reduce some of the take. Right or Wrong, I think some guys feel if they spend $300.00 or more on an out of State tag they ...

Re: Guide in Idaho, Units 32/ 32a proposal?
I would also like to add by guides introducing hound hunting to clients that have never hunted behind hounds, he is promoting the love of the sport we all enjoy. Years ago I guided in Washington State with my hounds and I can tell you I think I made believers out of a lot of clients that hound ...

Re: the turning in of dogs?
When I get out of my truck and listen to my hounds baying a bear a hundred yards off the road, I want my dogs (that r in the truck and not turned in yet) to be able to located where my dogs are baying and turn them in so they get to the baying dogs. They shouldn't be barking until they get to where ...

Re: the turning in of dogs?
Personally, I would just drop one dog down and wait till he opens a few times and seems to have it lined out then add a few more. With adding younger dogs, it might be wise to hold them by the collar and let them hear the older dog open before u cut them loose. And turn them loose one at a time. It ...

Re: If sb1221 passes
Oregon and Washington are very similar. We were also told the Fish and Game couldn't get involved, but u don't see them staying out of the Wolf controversy. It should be the Job of the Fish and Game to let the facts be know about the problems that will occur without hound hunting for bear and cats ...

Re: Houndmen always getting put out
There will be plenty of time for discussion @ the Hound Council Meeting which is AFTER the Field Trial so for those going to the Field Trial this should be no big deal. Sounds to me that some of the folks are going to the WSHC Banquet and weren't planning on attending the Field Trial anyway and just ...

Re: Houndmen always getting put out
I believe after saturday we will have a better idea of the direction we are headed. I think at this point we are better off writing down our thoughts and bringing them up on
saturday. This is a postive step for all Houndsmen. If you are unable to attend, e-mail or pm someone your concerns or ideas ...

Role of a "Hound Council"
If you were to set-up a " Hound Council " how would it need to be organized to be successful? In Washington State, we have a few clubs that feed into our Hound Council but I believe it needs some reorganizing to get our membership numbers back up and become a recognized voice @ the Game Commission ...

Re: Houndmen always getting put out
Well said T.Hunt! I am not sure what Plott/Walker feels the role of the Hound Council actually is but I believe their job is to do whatever they can to represent Hound Hunters in Washington State whether they are members or not. People join organizations that work for their best interest and the ...
