Re: Has it always been this hard?
If I was in your shoes the last thing I would do is breed a dog. That will set you back further then it will help most likely. Become a hunter first then a breeder later. Once you have become a successful hunter and have a couple of very proven trustworthy dogs then start thinking about breeding. Da...

Based on the fact it looks like she has a flag tail, the color, and the shape of head and ears I would guess running walker or a mix of that. Just my guess, have fun with her and good luck.

Re: Bruce Kennedy Videos
I will be going and hunting with Dutch Salmon and videoing some of his rabbit hounds and talking to him and I have talked to one of the more famous Bobcat hunters out west and was invited to come out and talk to him and hunt with him and watch his dogs work.. Did either one of these ever get put up...

Re: Southeast verses north west
I have hunted in the areas in question. I think some dogs may be able to catch cats in both areas but how consistently is the question. This is a touchy question because a lot of people do not want to hear that their dogs cannot do something even though the truth of the matter is they probably can't...

Re: Do you still train your dogs in the summer?
Yes. I live in CA and it gets extremely hot where I live, like way over triple digits so I have to be extra careful. So summer time hunting is only late at night or super early morning and not as long of sessions. Maybe a few hours compared to all day during season. Like the other person said keep l...

Re: Some beginner questions from a hunter looking to get into hounds
I am still fairly new to hunting with hounds, got my first hog dog about 7 years ago and my first tree dog about 4 years ago, and here is a little of what I have learned. When buying a finished dog especially if you are spending good money on it there is one thing above all else I would consider; I ...

Re: Made a dream a reality
Start saving your money now, it's an expensive lifestyle. And if you have some saved you can buy a well started or finished dog to use to train your second dog or pup when you get it. This will put you years ahead usually. Like you said find a few hunters hunting in or near where you will be hunting...

Re: Leopard Hound
It is hard to admit, but I can’t remember some of that stuff any more. I want to say that is England’s Little Lep. I used to have those pictures among my things, but I have jettisoned all my non-essentials in favor of being able to fit all my belongings in my pickup, with plenty of room for a dog o...

You might try Ricky Love I believe he is in North Alabama. His dogs have been run on hogs and I'm sure he can send you vids and references. He breeds McDuffie blood like Hensley and Oller though through the years all three lines are very different. Wayne Hensley is in Virginia you might try him as w...

Re: From East Texas
Thanks Babble Mouth. Yeh I know there are those who watch for people looking for cat dogs. I have found a couple of plott kennels in TX who have had pups go up north for bear and cat dogs, so I may talk to them. A buddy of mine has some of their pups and they have made jam up hog dogs at young ages...

Awesome video! Thanks for posting it. What lines of hounds are you running out there?
