Re: Technology

Well trained a few dogs without any tracking or shock collars but that was a few years back. I can't run as fast as I used to so it would be hard to get in front of a deer race to cut them off without collars. I trained several dogs with just shock collars and that made it a lot easier on me. I now ...

Re: Need Advice!

If your dogs can trail a coon then they should be able to trail a lion. If you do find tracks start by walking them down it, showing them the tracks and encouraging them.

Re: Bloodline recommendations

The hounds I have owned will sure bite a bear or other critter without any training that just comes naturally. But I sure don't know how one would go about getting them to bite a person... its just not in their nature. I do think a Black mouthed curr could be trained in protection... at least the on...

Re: Serious Question!

Well I'll throw this out there. Everyone is thinking about the scent conditions for the cat, but what about the dogs? They've been running hard for all that time too. Now they make a lose and are panting heavily through their mouth. Maybe they can't take as many scent molecules into their nose when...

Re: Lion Crashes Whitetail Video

I am going to go with lion as well. It looks like a young one that's not to experienced though. On Coues white-tailed deer, my dad shot a 3 by 3 Coues that weighed 36 lbs field dressed. The rack fits in my caged hands. Tiny!

Re: The Misfit Cat Hunting Thread

Nice story And Pictures! Just thought I would post a few pictures proving that it is possible to catch Cats in AZ with redbones. I don't have a pretty girl to hunt with though so you are ahead of me... even if you never catch anything as Dan said ;) Ruby N pups.JPG Mature Tom.JPG I let them catch fo...

Re: Maps wayyyy off?

Does anyone know if there is a way to preview a map, just enough to see if the trails show around my house? These are US forest service trails that have been here for more than 30 years, some much longer than that. Hate to spend $100 and find out its not any better... Also the cards, how would I go ...

Can't unlock maps

I was out today and had the Alpha 100 lock up on me. So I turned it off then back on... I had to go through a recalibration. It also dropped all the collars and tracking info. Once I got the collars added back on I noticed that the map was only showing the main Highways, no Topo map. So I turned it ...

Maps wayyyy off?

So I broke down and spent some of my hard earned cash on an alpha100 and tt15 collars. I tried it out today just around home. First thing I noticed is how off the maps are... The main road ends at my house and the Garmin map has it running all the way up canyon to the crest trail, a distance of 4 mi...

Re: Question for guys that use dogs

See I would think a good sized cur or hound could hold their own but I have heard of some guys using the little stock dogs like jags or gun dogs like labs that I would think would get cut up or killed the first time Labs are way tougher than most people think... their hide is much thicker than most...

Re: rabies

That bat was rabid! Any bat seen out during daytime should as a rule be considered rabid... they will also bump into things and end up on the ground. (its possible that it was sick for another reason but error on the safe side). Bats have really small teeth and you may not see the bite mark, people ...

Re: 1/4 bloodhound crosses?

I have a nice male redbone looking dog that has black and tan as well as blood hound in him. He looks like he could be a brother to your female, Kevin. He is a bit smaller though, only 70lbs but built the same as your female(when I saw that picture I did a double take). Very large feet for his size....
