When you walk up to the tree and the lions eyes lock on to you what do you think it's thinking? Deciding to jump or kill you or not?

Re: Strike dog

Thanks the original reasoning behind building a strike hood was my pup last year started striking on gut piles @4 months from the back of a SUV with the windows down. Though she had to empty out. Ran a couple hundred yards out and started chowing down. Well obedience trained now and needs broke and ...

Re: Strike dog

Thanks a lot! I usually just use pursuit season to road but That's not very productive around here. I know my pup comes from a long line of bear strike dogs.

Strike dog

Anyone train a strike dog with scent? Think I'm missing out just hunting the snow. Put together a strike hood and was thinking about trying this. I have one good hot nosed dog and a year old pup that seems more cold.

Best way to rig on a suv

I can't use the quarter windows. Thinking a strike hood or a dog box mounted on the hitch? Would it be better on the hood or down lower ? I could mount a rack on the front hitch low to the ground to.

Might have a problem

Watching old videos and looking at pictures of my dogs when they were pups gets me all choked up. Only 2 seasons under my belt but man am I proud. Buying a cute little blue for my girlfriend then watching it bay a lion and keep pushing till it treed. Nothing better than running dogs and I'm sure I'l...

Re: Dog changes mouth on certain tracks

I have a bluetick she'll run deer with I real high piched chop then whine. I can always tell when it's a deer. Maybe 300 tops and she'll turn back like just running them out of her area then she's back to hunting.

Re: Fast Off Dog Slow Hound

My pit/heeler mix has been hunting with hounds 2 seasons some high picthed yipes on the cold trails. It goes to full cry once it's jumped to the tree. Seems to me dogs with strengths and weaknesses can learn of each other. The things that might be about impossible to teach them yourself.

Re: Ideal pack for bobcat

I've been told to that bigger dogs are slower or not good on a lot of rock to but my year old highlonesome pup can keep up with my smaller blue on more open ground will out run her. On real thick stuff the smaller dog is faster. I hunt high cascades to the desert. Makes sence to me different players...
