Re: MULES,HORSES AND HOUNDS
I work with my dogs before they are old enough to take hunting and I work them one at a time. Once they know what heel means, then I will work them with another dog. When I call them off a tree or a caught hog, they know the hunting is over. Like said above sometimes we will hit another track and if...

Re: Plott Pups
My dogs go back to almost all Swampland breeding with Weems. Leroy Haugs dogs have a lot of Weems in them also. Rick Grunch also has dogs that go back to Swampland as does Terry Blanchard in Fla.

Re: Surgically AI'ing a Gyp
Hi Gary, If I can, I would like to ask a few questions as I am interested in AI myself. How old is the semen being used & how many straws will be used? That success rate your Vet has is phenomenal. wishing you the best on this litter.

Re: Wolf hunting with hounds any body ever do it
Over in Sweden & other parts of Europe they do hunt wolves with hounds. While their wolves are not quite as big as the Gray wolves you have in Ontario & other parts of the upper Midwest & out West, they are still wolves & they run into the same problem everybody else has who hunt in ...

Re: Dogos on Bear?
Gary, I find the exact same thing when talking about Catahoulas not being as good as they used to be. I believe the baying contests & show people have about ruined the breed. When they start calling these dogs hog dog champions & they could no more go out in the woods & find their own ho...

Re: Dogos on Bear?
Why would you want too? The only thing a Dogo would bring to the table would be on a bayed up bear & he is only going to get your good hounds hurt. They do not have the nose a good hound has, & while they might have some stick, they sure are not going to run 4-6 hours. I really do not know i...

Re: Moose hounds
I guess the Moose population is coming back. I know years ago they had a big die off in Ontario where it seems like 80% of the moose population died off due to a brain worm that came in from whitetail deer. My last bear hunting trip a couple of years ago to Ontario we saw a lot more Moose sign then ...

Re: Moose hounds
Great story Bear Hounder. On my first trip to Sweden hunting Brown bears 2 of my Plotts ran a good bull moose up until the afternoon before we got them caught off. Shock collars are not allowed in Sweden & it is pretty hard to find a moose in La. to break them off. I am not a expert by any means...
