Re: Dogs Loading Up

Man thatā€™s rough Perk. I didnā€™t know all that. Or if I did know it I forgot. I think about the second time I saw the dogs miss, I would dig a couple little holes or a shallow trough to put the back wheels in at morning load up time when the dogs are stiff. Or put up a little mound of dirt to back up...

Re: Dogs Loading Up

All valid points. Where I came from, I canā€™t remember ever seeing a man with dogs that wouldnā€™t load. It is just a given. Dogs can easily load themselves, so why wouldnā€™t someone want them to. ā€œWhy do I want my dog to loadā€ is a question that would never even enter my world. ā€œWhy do I want to breath...

Re: Dogs Loading Up

Nolte, a theory question: do you think labs are more athletic than a speed and drive foxhound? I donā€™t really know the answer to that, they are very different, but I have seen hounds load onto the rigging platform before the tailgate could be lowered. I get the 12ā€ square hole though. That is short....

Re: Dogs Loading Up

If I have to help a dog load, it takes away from my experience because now Iā€™m thinking Iā€™m hauling an idiot. I gotta have dogs that look like they are smart even if they are not. I once hunted regularly with a young man who had a nice hound that never would load. I knew I could teach her to load bu...

Re: Dogs Loading Up

Everybody to their own, but in the world of things to ruin my day hunting, helping a dog jump is low on the list, I know better than to get in a theological debate with you Perk because you wonā€™t quit until you have won. If you are picturing me always driving down the road to get a dog to load , yo...

Re: Dogs Loading Up

And David when that dog is locked in in a tree with a cat up it he IS giving you a command ā€˜COME SEE COME HELP I GOT HIM!!ā€™ surely thatā€™s not a command that bugs you to follow Where the red fern grows teaches that you are working in tandem with the dogs, they treed that coon, and he had to cut that...

Re: Dogs Loading Up

Iā€™m glad some guys from the large pack fox hunting world showed up. I was going to try and describe what I have seen in that world, but Iā€™m glad I didnā€™t try. I donā€™t know how many pups Perk might have started in the last year, but I am pretty sure That number of pups started is higher than the numb...

Re: Dogs Loading Up

Itā€™s great that you have a ditch already made. In the puppy pen, I had dug a couple holes to put the back wheels in. It helps tremendously to get the truck leaning backwards a little bit. Out hunting itā€™s usually easier and maybe not as risky (when wet) just to back up to a bank where the road is ba...

Re: Bobcat Dog book on YouTube

...And u really don't need to be outside hunting, exploring Alaska n stuff when u could b inside reading a book to us and doing interviews, talking about hunting. Now there is a convincing argument. Lol Thanks I needed that. If you all have not checked out Timothyā€™s and Brettā€™s channels, you ...

Re: Dogs Loading Up

I have never had to teach this to an older dog. But for my pups, I try to make it easy, and rewarding at first, and eventually it is a command that they donā€™t have the option of ignoring. I back the truck up to a mound or bank or put the back wheels in a ditch or depression so really all they have t...
