Re: 13 month old not finishing tracks
that small loss could easily be making contact with the bear. there are a lot of dogs that won't stay with a bear alone at that age. This would make a little more sense. Bears usually don't put a lot of miles on this time of year if the berries are good. As far as treeing you may need better tree po...

Re: cold nosed
I think cold nose is developed through the type of training you do. For example I had a great Black and Tan who was a cold trailing lion dog he was one of the hounds I started out with. Not knowing anything but what a lion track looked like I didn't know the difference between cold nose and hot nose...

Re: The Clavey River Cur Gang
Good looking pup, Jeff. I crossed Oscar to his daughter this year and have 5 that are 1 month old today. they should be world beaters. I hope to get some potlickers that stay the course with Oscar from truck to tree on the hardest, meanest, fastest running bear. I know what you mean about the dogs k...

Re: New Member from BC
My advice is get out and hunt that dog. Exposure to hunting will train you and your dog.
Good luck and have fun.

Re: Cur lion dog
I run mostly crossed up leopard x walker crosses but do own one pure breed leopard out of Nick Rileys stuff. Good dog on lion, lynx and bear. If I were you I would look for a pup out of bobcat hunting parents. There are two type of hounds I would never own, one a snow hunting cougar hound and second...

Re: Puncture wound
Fill a syringe with hydrogen peroxide and flush the wounds 3 or 4 times a day.Anti-biotics are a good idea.I would use them for 7 days.If not better by then make another appt with veterinarian . Never use hydrogen peroxide, instead use antibacterial soap and flush. the peroxide will definitely hurt...

Re: Hog trip with the family
Looks like a blast, did you go with an outfitter? If so,who? I have been to Texas before and had a good time, but we hunted without dogs. I would like to do the dog thing! One thing for sure, hogs are under- rated as a game animal. I went with a taxidermist you guides for gators who just happened t...

Hog trip with the family
I asked my son when he graduated what he would like to do for a hunting trip. He said his dream hunt would be hogs with dogs!!!! I am in and so was my wife and daughter. It sure is different then what we are used to being as we are used to dogs trailing and a little bit more noise. It was awesome, w...
