Re: Back down the track
Good reading C. John glad to read some of those toms can take that long to catch. Thats what I meant by the garmin being so helpful to those that can read them. In the old days, would be tough to know if dogs were going right down the same trail or 50 yards off in this brushy country. My hunting par...

Re: Back down the track
Took me alot longer than it should have Andy, but, I finally figured out to stay way back with my vehicle when dogs running cat in roaded area. But I sure blew up a bunch of cat races before I figured that out. And was disgusted with the dogs for loosing the track. But one can/t stop others from dri...

Re: Back down the track
Interesting reading all post. Guess I,ve had some simular experiences . George never had as good luck catching those cats who double back as fast as you. But if dogs got enough chances some got caught. Makes sense that close track dogs with enough experience to realize cat running back on it,s on tr...

Re: your first dog
Had several yard dogs as a kid growing up in Va. & had hunted with a few hounds in Or. that could tree some easy coon. At 19 was married, working in a mill when a friend & coworker decided we were going to get us a real hound pup. After working enough overtime we headed to Mcminnville OR. to...

Re: build your perfect cat dog
Was not going to respond to this post, but since everyone seems to be having fun with it Iwill chime in. George said it better than I could have. But I have had some of the same experiences as he described. Also had heard that dogs used thier tails for balance as Tim stated. Thanks to you hunters, t...

Re: reading track
George I like your post. Thimothy, your advice really helped with the garmin. Not a snow hunter, but Wayne Morgan, friend & former hunting partner, show me how to take warm coffee & slowly pour into a snowed in track & it showed very plain if it was a coyote or bobcat track. Remember him...

Re: casting out on a cat
Good luck again with those pups . If my health situation was more stable would love to have one of them. I have never hunted with Dewey know from talking to him and others Dewey is a sleep in the pickup type hunter and catching the cat is what matters to him & am sure he loves to work the dogs. ...

Re: Do dogs have a terrible 2 stage?
Not a biggame hunter but sure have noticed at about two & over is when some dogs that have been good to stay in pack on bobcat, start to thinking they wont to be coyote dogs. My friends have notice this also. Al Baldwin

Public Thanks To Clay,s & David
This post is a public thank you to the Clays. After a very enjoyable phone visit with Curry & his Dad, one thing I/m very conviced of is they are hunting hounds because they love to hunt & not motivated by any financial gain. Took only a short visit with Curry/s DAD to realize that he truely...
