Re: Cold nose ? Fact or fiction
Some great information. I would agree, they are still out there. The truth is that demand is alot higher than supply. I can count the number of super cold nosed trail dogs that I would vouch for on my two hands and as stated by others most people that say they have one are full of bs or have not hun...

Re: Papered or Non Papered Dogs
any dog that gets it done i like, papers or no papers. that being said i believe that papers do provide incentive to breed lesser dogs. i have just seen to many instances where papers sold pups when in reality their parents were not any count. alot of this was done for money. there are good papered ...

Re: rigging for bear
just a couple other quick thoughts why we are on the topic. i have two boxxes one is a diamond deluxe full size with windows and the works, the other is a $50 wood special with metal over the wood. both have windows and rigging racks. the diamond deluxe has a divider and two doors, nice sliding wind...

Re: rigging for bear
there are a couple reasons that sometimes i like a lot shorter rig
1) if im rigging when it is colder, it is nice to have that cold air off my old dogs
2) if you rig some rougher roads or roads that have alot of overhead brush

Re: shy dogs hereditary????
i think it is alot hereditary, i have a line of hounds that defiently display this trait and has for generations. it shows more on some out crosses than others. I do believe the best way to cure this is keep your young pups some place were they are handled on a regular basis by kids. the perfect lev...

Re: Is it ok to keep my keep my dogs on concrete
i would have to say go with no concrete. just think what happens to peoples joints that work on concrete all the time. i would also echo the concerns brought up by others as far as temp. etc. if i was going to go with concrete i think i would use enterlocking rubber mats on top of the concrete like ...

Re: How do you carry your electronics
about the best i have found is the military MOLLE Gear. i know that you can find it on line, probally military surplus. it keep everything right in front of you and you can get pouches to hold about anything. it is proven and tested. the only situation that i dont like my gear right there is in the ...

Re: Whites Hunter Series Boots
should have clarified but was on my way out the door. the mountain extremes insulated made in italy are the ones i go with. that is not to say that white does not make an excellent boot, they do, i just have had no experience with their hunting boots. Their loggers are awesome. i will say that i bel...

Re: Whites Hunter Series Boots
i would go with the Kenetreks, know several who have baught them lately and they all love them. White has always made a great boot. i had schnees and they leaked like a siv but they stood behind their product and sent my money right back

Re: hardest state to run and tree bears?why
would have to disagree with Roc. and Page. would say that most bears in the western part of the county are treed. alot more of the bear on the mass would tree if they had a chance. i would say that it is more a result of the type of hunting and number of people but they will tree and do all training...

Re: Breeding, How long before the apple falls far from the tree?
agree with alot said, you do have to be "picky". AKC and maybe someothers put on clinics on gentics that are well attended by breeders in other breeds, i would like to go to one of them. long story short some traits are more easily passed vs. others. some line of dogs seem to genetically r...

Re: Age do you call a pup?
pup to a year. time to finish a dog depends on alot more variables. opertunities to hunt, and your standards for what finished means. i have seen finished dogs at a young age and old age that could tree off a bait but turn them loose on a mountain ridge and they were lost. finished to some not others.

Re: training a puppy?
at that age i dont think anything helps you evaulate or develop a dog as far as hunting ability as much as seeing game up close, roll cage or what ever. its not the end all, some dogs dont turn it on to later. as far as discipline you do have to be careful with a shock collar but that does not mean ...
