Re: wormer
Hi bad moon, I use the horse ivermectin also, have for years since heart worm is so prevelent in this area. My Vet did say however, you han certainly over do the Ivermectin and it will cause blindness so you sure don't want to over the perscribed amount per/body weight too much. Just my 2 cents.

For the safeguard I use it has a setting for each 50 lbs for each click. I give all my dogs but my Redbone one click each and him I give 2 clicks with there food once a month. Its taste like apples and they really like it. I have been using it now for about 2-3 yrs and love it no trouble at all.

Ivermectrin liquid--1/10th of a cc per 10lbs. of body weight[50# dog=1/2(5/10th's)of a cc.

Re: wormer
I keep hearing everyone talking about worming their dogs for heartworms. My question is..has everyone had their dogs on a heartworm prevention program since they was pups or have you taken your dog to the vet to be diagnosed for heartworms? My reason for asking is because i read an earlier thread on here that said if your dog already has heartworms and you treat them for it that you could kill the dog.Reason is,as the worms die and leave the heart they could plug up the arteries, kind of like a heart attack.
Re: wormer
about wormers i've been on well my dogs have been on a once a month regiment of a mixture of valbazen [sheep wormer] and ivomectin we just put 10cc of ivomect in the bottle of valbazen and shake it up and give according to the weight dosage for sheep i've been using this for about 2 years now with no problems , worm 6 week old pups and all . i heard about this when a buddy of mine told me and i let him test it on his dogs first just to be safe . all my dogs [here in texas ] are heart worm and all worm negative slick fat and shine like diamonds.

Re: wormer
To answer the question about plugging the arteries with dead works and killing the dogs...that is correct. However, if you start your pups on Ivomec Injection 1% Sterile Solution (there are different forms of Ivomec and the injectable is the only form safe for dogs), start them once they reach 10lbs. The dosage for Ivomec is as stated above at 1/10th of 1cc per 10lbs. I start my beagles at 10lbs and treat them the first of the month every month of the year. It does not hurt them and saves a ton of money. $35.00 a bottle at tractor supply vs. about $50 per dog for medicine from the vet.
Re: wormer
What about the horse wormer from Durvet: Pyrantel Paste(pyrantel pamoate)?
Re: wormer
I use equimax horse wormer paste. It has the ivermectin in it and the pyrantel. This works great cuz it gets the fleas, ticks, and tapeworms. Have used it on everything from a 6 wk. pup to a full grown hound. We just do it once a month and they are good.

Re: wormer
What you do is give your horse some wormer and then let your dogs eat the horse shit.

Re: wormer
I use safe guard one cc for every five pounds . If you get the goat wormer you get more for the money. I worm three days in a row on dogs with worms then once a month
