Do or Don't, DC-30

Postby bluedogs249 » Sat May 28, 2011 8:10 am

I have heard both sides of this issue.
Do or don't update software on the DC-30 collars.
I would like to know whether to update the software or not to.

Yes you need to update both your Unit and your collars. The updates correct issues that they have found and actually makes them perform better. If you have had your astro and collars for a while there are a few updates for both.

I'll post my comments here since I answer this question allot.

I'm speaking about the Collars only, Not so much about the Handheld, I generally keep my handheld updated.

I say for the DC30 It doesn't matter One way or the other.

I haven't seen any time with a DC30 that I was like the update made it better.

DC40?? Absolutely update it, It Makes and improvement. But the DC30.. Not so much.

I've had some folks that claimed they didn't work as well after the update.
I've had some people that their DC30's stopped working after the update,
I've heard from lot's of people that have updated them without issue.

I've never had any problems when I updated mine, But i haven't noticed any benefit also

It's not what you want to hear, but it's really a matter of opinion.

But for folks with Old DC30 collars I always tell them to call Garmin and ask them if updating them will cause any issues. That way if the update breaks them you have some type of argument instead of Paying the 90 something Repair Fee for a DC30 for their update instructions that didn't work.

Good Luck.
