What of Duncans dogs is putting good pups on the ground now. I really like what I hear about Mingo stuff But I know he passed away a year or so back.

Howdy - just seeking your thoughts on a hound from the Dalton Creek lines. What do you think of this breeding?

Sire is a Mingo x Sue.

Dam is a Hoss x Zip.

It'll probably have some speed. What the heck are you gonna use it on in Australia?

Talk to Ken personally, he knows the crosses better than anyone. I don't hunt coon or bobcat.

Does any one have any pups out of Ken's Thunder male or Dawn Female. This cross is coming up and I am trying to get as much info as I can before I decide to take one or not. I think most anything that comes from Kens kennel will be good. Just looking for more info on these two as reproducers

Thunders sire is two time Albert(semen pup), he was the top competition coondog of all breeds for a while, been dead for years and years. Thunder came to ken from gene hicks who owned two time Albert, gene got diagnosed with prostrate cancer and can't hunt like he used to. I have a thunder/jewel cross, I have been very pleased with. She's only about 8 months, but has been on a couple bear including a grizz and several fox. Couldn't ask for a better pup. She has one of the coldest noses in my pack, super fast heads up track dog, tight leggy build huge bawl mouth(HUGE). Still a little loose on the tree but I'm hoping that will come with age and experience. She is a pretty high strung and energetic dog, but not to the point of being too much. Great temperment. I would like to get another one off of thunder before long, I am partial to the Albert bred dogs. If I'm not mistaken, dawn is linebred close to Mingo, which was one of kens best dogs, may even be a daughter of Mingo II. Thunder is smaller stocky shorter eared, dawn is big and super houndy looking. I would not hesitate one bit to get a pup off that cross. Get ahold of Ken or his son Calvin, ken is about the most honest hounds men there is. He will tell you good and bad. Calvin is great too. They are both on Facebook. My only regret is not getting more pups out of that breeding.

Btw, besides the 7 or 8 semen pups out of that litter, a pup from thunder will be the closest living dog you can get to the great two time Albert.

Dawn is a littermate to Mingo II(out of Mingo x Sue as I'm sure you know). How did your dog come out in the ear department? I know I shouldn't be picky with this seeing how Thunder is out of really good stuff. But I really want one with long ears to make a cross on a shorter ear dog I have.

She for sure isn't lacking, they come down past her nose, I'd say average to slightly longer than average for the breed. Super fast learner and everything just came super natural for her. I am very pleased with her thus far. A little loose at the tree but she is still just a pup, I'm hoping that will improve with age and experience.
