I just had a litter of purebred blueticks, 10 of them and one came out all black.. He has a teeny bit of white on his toes and chest & brown eyebrow spots. All other pups are white with a few black spots and brown eyebrows.
Anybody else ran across this? shocked the heck out of me..

I hope it doesn't come as a shock to you that the papers on your dogs are probably not 100% correct. It would be a first. The pup is probably a throwback to some other dog in the pedigree, maybe B/T?

Were any other male dogs able to get with the female while she was in heat? It is possible for a litter of pups to have different sires.

Re: oddball bluetick?
she was penned up by herself, taken straight to the stud for about 2 hours then back in her pen.. the only other dog was my black and tan female she's with. They have a 9 foot fence (old chicken coop) that has an electric fence running all along the bottom to keep them from getting out, or other dogs in.

Re: oddball bluetick?
I recently had a litter of pups and had one lil female with one blue eye, and that side of her face is white. I havent ever seen blues eyes before in a bluetick.
I thought there was only one color for a good hound BLUE!!!

Re: oddball bluetick?
I'm not sure how to post a pedigree on here... can't find anywhere with advice on it either... but she's heavy on northern blue jetlines on her sires side and cameron lines on the dams.. I don't know the exacts on the stud dog, the owner is user poundhound on this site, it's his bluetick pinch. He's got jetline in him too. The black pup is staying the same size with the majority of the pups.

Re: oddball bluetick?
the jet stuff goes back to the hammer dogs. i wouldn't worry bout it. my blue dogs went back to northern blue hammer 9. i bred to a hammer 11 female and my pups were bout all black.
