No I think it would unless the dog chew it off. I use straw alot cheaper and my family has a ton of it so i can keep it fresh. Although that might be hard to keep it in a barrel I think the spray on is a good idea give it a try.

I think it might work if your barrel is outside of a kennel area so they can't chew it. Probably ugly though. Real messy too. You can put steaks in the ground with plywood and put dirt or sawdust around basically making a dirt box around the barrel. Some people dig them into a hillside.

run around some subdivisions or if you have any contractor friends and see if you can find a house that is going to get corbonded(sprayed insulation) those guys will usually spray stuff for ya if u show up when they are doing it. had adog box done that way on a house I was working on, just scheduled with em and picked up the box at the end of the day when they were done, did mine for free, but might charge ya a little.

My house is insulated with spray foam. It is a very good insulation. The problem with putting it on a dog house is that the dogs would probably chew it to shreds in no time.

i use the foam spay got an industrial size that comes in a box with two bottles that look like mini propane tanks the bottles mix in the nozzle and they actually do contain alot i did six barrels real heavy no problem with spray to spare. never had a dog chew it but if they can climb on the barrel it gets ruined in a hurry. so i had to move them outside the kennels and make a small entrance hole. i got it from fairmont supply for $159

Www.sprayfoam.com was a resouce I used when researching foam for my home. I believe there were ads for DIY kits.
