long eared blues
Where would a person look for the really long eared blues?
Re: long eared blues
Both my females have long ears IMO. They came from Jim Malone of Preston, ID. They are a Cameron x Smoky River. Awesome dogs I love em. I want to find a male of a simliar cross.

Re: long eared blues
I have a male pup that's about 8 months now that has huge ears. He's mostly from Cameron lines. I was thinking about finding him a future girlfriend. Not soon, but I want to start researching potentially good crosses now.
The big long ears just appeal to me and I've wondered if it's linked to strong cold nosed abilities. I have no idea if it's true or not, but thought it would be worth looking into.

Long ear and cold nosed, Sassy always gets first strike.

A good place to start your search
Another good site to look
Re: long eared blues
Sassy looks like the kind of critter I'm looking for. She's got the ears for sure.
I have a male and a female that are each 7/8th cameron. They are a mother and son, so I don't wish to breed them together. That's why I'm starting my research now and looking ahead.
If I find the right characteristics I may try to plan a breeding. Otherwise I'll just keep my eyes peeled for a pup from a suitably long eared line.
I really like those big gascony hounds, the little ones too. I wish some lived near me so I could go look at one up close.

Re: long eared blues
Bluesage- That's kinda what I'm looking for. Long ears and sad eyes.
Redneck- I really like the looks of those pups!
The one that really caught my eye was the black headed looking walker female, Maggie. I can see why you want to keep her. She'll be pretty. My first hound was a little white snowball like her that I brought home in my coat pocket.
As far as what characteristics I'm looking for, I have a kind of open ended wish list. I guess I'm looking for a female with ridiculously long ears from a proven blue line where the dam and sire were also rather long eared. Parents that are cold nosed would be very desirable.
Here's my circumstance now though. I have a female and her son that are both fertile, both 7/8 cameron. (I don't want them to mate). I have a tentative breeding coming up with a friends elderly male cameron, which he really likes and so he would like to have him breed to my Mathilda. If I were to keep a male pup that would give me two half brothers for my use. They'd be a year apart in age, but would give me some basis for comparison. This is something I've been very interested in.
My young male is approaching a year old and still needs to be proven in the field. I like him though and am optimistic that he'll be a good dog for me. If that proves true then I'd like to breed him. That's where my interest comes from in getting a future female pup. He has really big ears and a bugle voice. In my imagination an ideal girlfriend for him would be a long eared blue girl from a proven line. Since mine are heavily cameron bred I would probably look to non-cameron lines for this female to introduce another X chromosome into my menagerie.
