Looking for gritty bloodlines
Looking for a gritty blood line to mix into my jet smokey river cross hounds. Open to any suggestions. Would like to stay with registered dogs but open to try anything. THanks for your time.

Re: Looking for gritty bloodlines
this droop bloodline in my smokey river dog is gritty as hell really worried about him and bear this year he just runs in and grabs like saturday did a turn loose with a big boar coon gave it about ten minutes and brought dogs down let my plott cameron cross go first he smoked the track and caught it on the ground but was circlin and bayin him waitin for his chance to strike i let my smokey/droop dog go and that little bastard just comes in like a bulldozer rams it and grabs on but he never gets tore up by some chance had a split plott ear though
its better to tree and let live then tree and kill to never be ran again

Camerons are the grittiest I've seen

Camerons and the stronger strains of Clearwater have been the grittiest I've seen.

All the Upson dogs i've had, were real gritty they got in there, didn't stand back and booger bark
Re: Looking for gritty bloodlines
I would have to agree on the Upson dogs. All of the ones we have had in our group have been hair pullers they are not afraid to get in a mean bears face. The last litter we raised the females seemed to even have a little extra grit.

Re: Looking for gritty bloodlines
i have a female from maine and a buddy has two littermates to her and they are as gritty as anyone needs, my female will kill a coyote and these aint no western coyote these are 50 pound coyotes that will back most hounds off to bay, im not going to throw his name around but if you pm me i will tell you the whole story and give you his number, she comes from bear stock with great noses thats why i got one for cold trailing coyotes, her two brothers are run on bear and have been putting bear up
