Hey Guys,
I have been out of hound hunting for some years and I am in the process in getting back into the fun. In the past I owned Walkers, Black&Tans and a few Blueticks but I have never owned a redtick nor have I ever hunted with anyone that owned one. I am interested in the breed and was trying to get some information to see if anyone can give me a lead on anyone who hunts redticks for lion or bobcat with some success (as no one catches them all). I am not really interested in bear hunting but will coon hunt if there is no other season open just get the dogs into the woods.
Considering that I can look here, in the English section, and see back two plus years and they all can fit on one page of posts tends to make me think that they are not big game hounds or there is just not that many redtick's out there?
Thanks for any information...

Ha! oh not my friend. This website is not as popular as the UKC board. There are a lot of redticks out there. The best ones that you will hear about are Lightfoot, Crank, Wilcox bred dogs, Oney, and a few more others that have been inserted here and there. Swamprooster has been a big part of the english breed all over the U.S. As far as breeders there is a guy named Lance Perhson that has some good dogs that he runs lions and bobs on. He also competes with his dog named echo whom I have had the priviledge to experience. Very nice hound. They do well on coon also. He does not do as much bear huting. As for others thats all that I know that have good bred dogs that do what a guy wants. I am sure there are a few that I am not aware of also. If you have any more questions I will try my best to answer them as best as I can.

Thanks Guys for the information it helps to have a starting point. And I will make sure I refer to them as English hounds from now on...
Like I said I am in the very beginning stages of get back into hounds and thought since I starting again fresh and have been away for many years I would take a look around at all breeds. You know see whose doing what and where.
I think I would like to start back with a good broke pup trainer and a couple of good blooded pups.....

Re: Redtick's
That does not make sense. All of the other breeds have other color types also. Does that make them NOT a breed? Just curious. Anyways good luck to you.
