could it be Dean Robinson in Southern, Utah? If so I could tell you a little about them. I hunt with a guy that has some and know quite a few guys here in southern Utah who have those dogs. Who told you about them? If I know who told you then maybe I can help you out on if it is in fact Deans dogs.

Robinson dogs
I dont know a whole lot about them but I will tell you what I know. I do not remember who Dean got the dogs from originally, Stan Mecham told me but I forgot. From what I understand these dogs have been a good line of dogs. Dean has been running these dogs for over 30 years and did a real good job at reproducing good dogs. These dogs were all red for the most part. The enlish looking dogs came from an outcross on some Jeff Allen dogs a while back and that supposedly really helped with some treeing problems that these dogs had. After that cross the guys that used them around here liked them even better. They are known for their ability to take a cold track and move it quite well. I do know that Charlie Leeder really likes a particular cross that Dean makes and getting a dog out of that cross is almost impossible. If Charlie doesnt get them their is about 100 others standing their waiting. Charlie usually takes the whole litter. From what I know you need to get a dog that has the Allen stuff crossed on to Deans dogs. That seems to be the magical cross. I didnt think their ever was such a thing but these guys swear by it and I cant argue with them cuz they catch alot of cats. I have also heard that they are much better cat dogs than bear dogs and some can be real hard headed.
I get the feeling these dogs are on their way out cuz I dont know how much Dean is keeping up with them due to his age, but like I said their are a few crosses that are still being made that seem to be as good or better than they ever were. If you want to talk to Dean himself I can get you his number.
Do you remember who you talked to about these dogs if you dont mind me asking?
feel free to correct me if anybody knows otherwise, this is just what I understand about these dogs.
