Dark Faced Redbones

Postby Mackdog » Tue Aug 25, 2009 10:49 pm

I have a dark eyed, dark muzzled redbone. Not really sure of his lineage, supposedly a black and tan mother and a registered redbone out of North Idaho. He is tall and a little on the lean side but goes through heavy/deep snow better than any dog I've see. Every person that sees him says what a good looking dog he is. I was just wondering if anyone else has had dogs like him.

Yea... I have one that looks very simular to that. I can try and get a photo of him. That 12 week photo would be hard to tell them apart when mine was a pup..

From the people I have talked to it sounds like that is a sought after trait. He is a great hunter and I would like to make some pups with him and another redbone, anyone interested?

Here is a couple photo's of the two that I'm hunting right now both have some black on them. I don't know about sought after.. I Can't hardly Give Red Dogs away.. We fixed all our Females a couple years ago, would rather hunt than mess with puppies.. I don't know what my next pup will be.. Probably not a walker, but that's about all I know :D

Here is a female I have, I think both dogs were 1.5 years or so and we didn't really expect them to catch this cat.. We were pretty proud of them.

I dont know all there is to know about the Redbone breeds by any means. But I have been looking into them a lot and looking at all the breeds. From what I can tell I would guess he would have some of the Timber Chop breeding in him or maybe some of the line I have been looking for info on the Blakesley line?

My Fireball bred redbone looks a lot like that.

Some purebred redbones throw pups that look like black and tans. Some could be single registered as b&t's, others look somewhere in between. There's one next town over from me that looks like a "monkey faced" b&t with bright red where the tan would otherwise be--nice looking hound.

Color doesn't tree game. If you're looking to reproduce him, talk up his hunting ability!

I have a redbone/Black and Tan litter on the ground. Some of the red pups have those dark mouths from the sire, two of em' look like registred Blacks. The redbone is a Sidearm Redbone and the Sire was mostly Kostnik and some lines from GRNITECH GRCH PR Robinson's Ark Typhoon
