Question for you Redbone houndsmen

Ok heres the story then the question. I picked up a young redbone from a guy my uncle new near me. I have NO story on this dog, however, he handles really well. Learns very fast has a loud mouth and is big and houndy like i like em. He is super fast too. Not sure on his nose yet he was estimated at about 8 months when I got him so hes about a year now. So far Im impressed with this dog and I really hope he works out. The question is, how are redbones compared to the other breeds? I read the other posts and I saw where some say they are smarter, which holds true for me so far but how is their nose usually? I also hear they are pretty gritty? I might be getting another one if I really like him who is breeding the great ones around? I hunt for cats bear and coon. Any info. is awesome thank you.

I have had a few, have 2 right now. One is just 10 weeks old, but my 5 year old has an excellent nose, extremely cold nosed, he is my top strike dog, and never misses on a locate. In my experience redbones are not as good at winding, but great track dogs (just my opinion) All of the redbones I've owned have had that quality.
