I don't know. But when I got Hank he had a silver head.
But now he is definately within the description of color as a tri colored dog. But his shade is a cool gray-ish blue brown....but still brown.
The silever is now somewhat darker then when they were born but not nearly brown. These are PR Hounds.
All from great stock.
Beagles have been shown with gray in them.
I have seen UKC dogs that didn't even look like walkers. Curly fur and off color and they have won compititions.
But still good question.

In our hound standards there is no standard for nose color. Most walkers are born with a pink nose and get there pigment as they get older. Some don't get it all. Butterfly nose.
You're Silver pups don't have black noses, they have blue noses. It's genetically impossible for a dog that color to have a black nose. The nose is faded as well. It may be super dark, but compared to one that it black, it isn't really black.
Just as Jack's nose isn't really black? It's more of a dark brown/chocolate.
But I don't think Jack is silver/gray/blue. He's more like a Chocolate/Rednose type. Also very different genetics. Dogs like that are void of all black pigment. I bet there is nothin on Jack that is TRUE black. Am I right? Not even the pupils of his eyes.

Not being rude. But helping you understand it a little better.
My Mom has bred the AST's/Pit Bulls for years. Blue is not a new thing there. A lot of people were marketing it as "rare" and flooding puppies for rediculous amounts. Still do. But it's far from rare. We hated getting blues in our litter, cause it was so not rare. A true black dog would have been more rare! Once you get that color, it's hard to get away from. When breeding a dog that color you will usually see it in it's offspring and great, and so on, forever. It doesn't take two parents to pass it on. When breeding two that color you will see no other color but that color. They cannot throw a true black pup. Maybe darker or lighter variations of silver/blue, but never black.
Melanie's dog Jack, his color came from both parents carrying the gene. And both parents have to have it to see it again. He's a little more different. But still something you see from heavy inbreeding/linebreeding.

No Jack's nose is not black.. It is more of the chocolate brown.. I have a picture somewhere of one of the other males out of that litter.. Same thing.. I have not seen the other two males out the the litter that were that same gray color.. But when they left they were looking just like Jack..
I will have to go look at his pupils.. I have never paid attention to them to tell you the truth.. And I know most people don't make it past those yellow eyes.. He sure looks good under a tree though
I will give the report after I get off work..
I was told my males were the diluted color because it came from both parents. The females would have been the ones to have it if it came from just one.. Don't know if that is true or not? Jack is inbred/linebred however you want to look at it..
I will be interested to see... The guy who owns the only "true" black/white/red male our of Jack's litter bred him to a female who would be a great-great-aunt to my pups.. Curious to see how much of that gene will come out..
Here is a couple pictures of my odd ball.. Jack on the left, his sire in the middle
Here is a close up of his face/nose..
And him on the end..
