Dogs, If you got Cold Nosed Walker Hounds that can move a BAD track I will consider another line but no Bull Shit comp. dogs and please dont waste my time with titles or the number of wins towards titles. I need dogs that can cold trail - to- tree. Nothing less

I had some Hendricks english dogs but I guess you cant get one anymore, I had great sucess with Finley river dogs but like I said if I could find some other cold nosed walkers close to home that damn sure hunt I will try em but they gotta be for real. I am sick of the Comp. bred dogs I wont feed another one

Well the dogs i used to have sure were not, the had big bawl mouths, would cold trail the first track you found and didn't fight at the tree.They were honest TRACK dogs that were not breed to just Tree and pass every track but a hot one They were long legged looked like running hounds and would not make a pimple on a comp. dogs a**

But once again that was probably just in my world.

I got a Hickory nut harry dog out in the pen thats just the oppisite of all that except he wont fight another dog , Even I wont put up with that. Thats what I call a Comp. dog all but Worthless for anything but a hot coon track.Now I know there no BOZO or what ever his name was ( wait wasn't that the clown on that kids show ) but we all cant be as lucky as You

Oh boy another larry and catch. What I was trying to tell you is that Finley River dogs are coon bred dogs that also made very good biggame hounds as well. For you to say you don't want a comp bred dog but you do want a Finley River dog makes no sense at all because they are one in the same.
You can find some very good dogs out of coonbred dogs, infact you will have a very hard time getting a dog that does not go back to a coon bred dog.
But I agree you will have a harder time finding a coonbred dog that will make a biggame dog.
Just like these guys that say they have Nance dogs. Lester Nance was a coon hunter and bred his dogs as such. But on here you say Nance dogs and you think biggame bred dogs They are dogs that do very good on biggame as well.
Talk to Lonnie and ask him if he bred his dogs for coons or biggame and see what he tells you I have asked him that question.

A Buddy of mine was telling me his buddy has a Finley River dog, that is a cat catching fool that he is selling, if you are serious about it give me a call and I will hook you up with him.

I doubt very much you have a Hickory Nut Harry dog in your back yard, You may have a Stylish Hickory Nut Harry dog, but they are not the same.

Well i was just trying to jazz you up about that bozo dog stuff, and yeah i probably am talking out my a** when it comes to walker bloodlines I know very little of the correct history, I have a Stylish hicoky nut gold son, so yes your 100% correct. I wont own another one. Most all my life my dogs didnt come with papers so i didn't ever follow names or lines much. Big Game bred ? I question the idea alittle. If your dogs (any dogs that is) are big game bred what does that mean, if i take a " BIG GAME" bred pup out to the woods will he look for big game only will he naturally overlook coon tracks, I doubt it very much. Will he have traits that make him better @ trailing " BIG GAME " better than a coon bred dog, Maybe, how will he do it, will he be able to run longer,Trail better,locate better, that depends on alot of factors, blood being one but not the sole factor of course. How long does one hunt a family of dogs on a type of game before they begin to adapt to the challange, I would say longer than both of us have lived combined. Whats big game? only lions and bears, how about bobcats? This term big game Hound is thrown around alot but there are only a few lines of dogs I would dare put the name on. I am sure your dogs are much better than any I have owned, both on paper and in the woods allI know is when i had finley river dogs I caught way more game than i am now, so that shows you how much i really know How many generations back counts I will say 3 maybe maybe 4 after that it's all bragging. I raised Hancock bred quater horses and tried hard to reproduce Joe Hancock,Blue Valintine,Red Man & my horses had them tons of times in there back ground one stud colt on paper was 46% Blue Valintine but never did I see a horse of his caliber they did look alot alike but thats where it ended, and one wrong cross and the colts from there on were junk, i will bet hounds are much the same

I agree 100% just because a dog has a title or family that comes from coon or biggame hounds doesn't mean it will be worth the feed we are giving them.
People are hung up to much on a dogs breeding and back ground, and as you know from breeding horses, just because you have the proper breeding and the proper background, that does not cinch it up.
Many breeders became famous because they had one or two crosses that worked and they kept making the same cross with the same results, but when they went outside that ,they could not reproduce it again.
I have old Full Cry Mags with the Lee Brothers selling English Coon and Biggame bred Hounds and then went to Bluetick Coon and Biggame Hounds. Now days nobody would concider that the Lee Brother's dogs came from coon hounds.
