White Clouds

Postby Jerry Johnson » Fri Jan 07, 2011 1:44 am

You know I have had some great hounds, fast, extremely cold nose, hard drive, non quit till the finish line. These dogs were White Cloud Walker Hounds from Rodger Holland. Rodger bred these dogs up and made they right crosses. I had a dog named Roper that money couldn't touch. You know, almost every good dog around here is out of him or a real close relative of his.

Rodger always spoke and talked very highly about is friend John Lastokin, up in Canada. He said John had all the right stuff, when it came to White Cloud dogs, cold nose and great big game hounds. Rodger often spoke about the amount of bears in John's country and what a great place to train bear and lion dogs. I received a dog from John about a year ago, this dog is doing great, in the next year or two, it will be the top dog. Litter mates to this dog are also doing the same.

I tip my hat to guys like Rodger Holland and John Lastockin for producing the quality of hounds they have. If it wasn't for them and one or two others, the breed would be lost.

I have seen so many people breed these top performing White Clouds to other breeds of top performing hounds. Hey, the cross works at times and sometimes very good. But after that, when you breed them again, you lose, from what I have seen.

I have been fortunate and had good dogs, good friends like Rodger & Benny Holland, John Lastockin and Leo Fisher. Thanks guys for your great breeding programs and keeping those upper end White Clouds alive

How are you doing, still in WY, catching all the lions. Last time I saw you is when you caught and killed the Albino cat. Where did it end up, someone's wall or a museum or something.

Old Hawk produced some good hounds, I trained quite a few behind him.

Mike

Happy New Year to you.

I sent you a direct email. Discussing all the frustrations. I beleive it is time to take the high road. For many years I have heard from you, praising Roder and John. I beleive you hunteded year after year with them. Great dogs, tons of bears and lions, etc

It is too bad a couple of Aw craps whipe out a lifetime of friendship. I called John and cleared my end up, I want to look down the road positve and we all should.

As far as the Roper dog he was tops, he was just like Hawk, Sewy, Hog, and on and on. Great dogs that had the drive and techniques to catch game in 90 deg weather. I wished they were still around. All of these dogs orriginated from the Hollands. If papers were staright, lost, not given or what, they still performed. The dogs I received from NV, were goofy. It wasn't Rodgers cross it was a friend who probably wasn't sure what bred his female. I beleive they were bred too close. I had two males, One had nuts the size of peanuts, the other had none showing at all. They were retarded, just plain mentally ill. I don't blame anyone for anything, they were given to me to try. They didn't work.

You know a fellow can keep all the anger and frustrations inside them, hey it's not healthy. I have had 3 surgeries in 2.5 years. I have a couple of grandkids wanting to hunt and that is the direction I am headed. Forget all the Bull Crap. Let's help Jerry find 1 or 2 solid bear hounds so I can get started again. Give me a call if you know of any. 805 508 3354.

Look up and be thankfull we get to hunt, and remember the good times and let's forget the bad

Brent

I your brother still guiding lion hunts? How about you? Do you ever get back this way. I am getting ready to head over to NM and hunt for a week. Waiting for some new snow.

How about your kids, all grown up, are they hunting? Ever hear from old Manny. Or after moving to Wasilla, I have never heard from him.

Are you running Walkers?
