By your sign in I would have thought you were a bluetick man. Oh well dogs is dogs. I would say you might want to check over there around Ruidoso, Hondo, and that country. Some pretty good walkers dogs over there, a lot of them Washburn bred. In that old hot country you have down there I think you are on the right track. New Mexico is pretty hard country all the way around different types of soild where ever you go. When it comes to bad , hot country and lion hunting you need a dog with a good nose, lots of desire, tremendous endurance and tolerance to heat and lack of water, and throw some good tuff feet ijn. It's a tall oreder and some think they have it till one good hard run leaves them with blown out, footless sored up dogs. Check with the guys that are catching consistantly in the country you hunt, and that is th best way to be a success. They are not inventing a new process, you just have to get the process working for you where you are.
Good Luck

Also check with Randy Cooper, he goes by the handle Treed. He lives in central Arizona. He runs a mixed bag of hounds.

Also give Warner Glenn a call he lives down in Arizona and runs a fine pack of walkers....

I have a litter of registered walker pups for sale. These dogs are out of the best of the best blood lines. They have 16 Gr. Nt. Ch. and 5 Nt. Ch. and thats only up to the third generation. They have Hickory Nut Harry the most sired walker ever, Hondo, Banjo, and Loose Bruce on their papers. You will have a very hard time beating these bloodlines and I worked very hard to find the dogs and make the cross.
I am asking for $350 per dog plus shipping. I do the vet care and health and get them on the plane. Air fare is likely around $150
Call if interested. 435-654-3225

I would like to see a 3 generation on your pups. And so you know, Harry is not the most sired walker stud hound, he is about 3rd or 4th on the list and that would be stylish harry.

Spanky,
Your right it is PR Ball's Stylish Hickory Nut Harry. I thought he was the most sired. Who is ahead of him?
I have an added on the forum under Registered Walker Pups - Top Bloodlines. There is a three generation pedigree there.
Even if you dont want a pup let me know what you think about the bloodlinles.
I like your statement leave it in the tree and run it another day. I wish everyone had that motto.

Nocturnal Nailor, Rat Attack and Rock River Sacket Jr. are all ahead of Harry. I would imagine Rat Attack might even be the top dog now.
The cross of the Buck hound was made by Nicki Rhodes of Washington. Buck was a product of Old Bozo and Tar Rattler. The bottom side of them pups Hershel Joyner put together real well. There some nice blood in the cross for sure, what are the parents hunting styles like, what are there strong points and what are there weak points?

The sire - Ace is a tall lean male. He is fast fast fast on bears. Head up and opens almost every breath. He is right there on real tough bears as well. He has a very loud ball mouth and gives long balls on a track and on a bay up. He also balls at a tree but mixes it up with some long balls and then some shorter. This dog is loud. I would like it better if he wasnt so wild at the tree. He jumps and tries to climb. I hope he grows out of this. Once I get there and get him tied up he just sits and hammers but before that he is a little wild. He will flat out munch a coon on his own. Just goes straight in hard. Doesnt even give thought about maybe he'll get bit. I have seen all this on bears and hunted with him alot. On lions I havent seen him personnally. His owner a good friend of mine and main huntin partner says he is good at slowing down and hunting a tough track. He does say that he will over run it once in awhile and have to come back a longer way to get it going again. This will come with age. He is a young dog and is doing great.
The mother - I call her River is a lean racy looking female. She is a flat out lightning bolt. Her speed puts her at the front of the pack all the time. When she jumps up on the rig truck she almost jumps right on the rig box. SHe is one of the best athletes I have seen in a dog. She can go forever. She is also ball mouthed but not as long as Ace. She will rap them out though at well over 100 barks/min at the tree. I like a hard tree dog and if they dont give over 100 barks/min I usually cull them. I start them treeing young and have them treeing hard before I ever take them to the field. That has worked really well for me. She is young as well. I always start my dogs on lions and bobcats for a least a season before running bear. I feel this will help them slow down a hunt a tough track. River can take a tough track and slow down and work it really well. SHe is not my best dog at this right now but she is 4 years younger. Without any doubt I think this dog is going to be one of the best I have had at this. SHe is very gamey in that she wants to go and chase. She gets so excited and is ready to go. Her feet are solid. I dont like big webby feet and she is good with tight small feet. SHe has a great personality. My seven year old boy can leader her and do a pretty good job. For weaknesses on her I think her biggest is that she is also wild at the tree. I think she will settle down with age and this litter of pups will probably have helped. I know this sounds pretty good but if she had any other weaknesses I felt were bad I certainly wouldnt have breed her and likely would have culled her.
I need dogs that will slow down and take a tough lion or bobcat track and then I need the same dog to through its head in the air and fly after a bear. This is because I tree around 30 lions a year and 20 bear. I personnally think you can have both in some dogs (not all). I have hunted and looked to find this breeding and right now I am real happy with it.
Although I realize I need to be careful because they are so young the new puppies that I have for sale will bay at a caged coon. They have a supporting cast with all the other dogs and I feel they are too young to get too close to the coon but they sure think they want to act tough and they hamer pretty good. I dont do it much with them at all. I will start them on a house cat in a month or so.
Anyway I hope this gives you some information. Let me know if you need anymore.
