GETTING HOUNDS ON TRACK

Postby diesel bluehounds » Mon Oct 29, 2007 12:26 am

At the time i am a avid coonhunter, with my job , family life and going back to college its hard to run the hills all night then do all the above. Plus my dad isnt able to walk the woods and i would like to hunt something that he could enjoy, i was thinking more on the lines of foxhunting, building a fire and setting around all night, plus it would give me time to study away from the noisy house. We have plenty of coyotes , we are running over with them, i would like to set up a feeder or something to attract foxes back in my area but really dont know how, also how can i get my dogs on running foxes, no one around here hunts foxes anymore so i cant train them with foxhounds.
Theres nothing better than the glow of the carbide lamp and the frost shattering sound of bluehounds in the distance.

if there is that many yotes around why do you want to run fox? yotes are just as much fun. do you know if your dogs will run fox or yotes? if they do then just free cast them. if not find a coyote pen near you and see what they will do.

I had thought about running coyotes but didnt know how they run, i had thought about free casting them but i would like to have a designated place were i could drive my dad to , drop hounds get a race and start cooking, thats why i was wondering about feeders.
