CUR PLOTT CROSS
Can you make a cur better by breeding to a gritty cold nosed plott on the first cross or would it take several times breeding before it comes out?

Re: CUR PLOTT CROSS
There are blood lines that will give you a cold nose gritty cur. I had a litter of half cur and half Plott about three years ago it was a non planed breeding. The pups turned got ok. But they had the hard head like Plott. I guess what I am trying to say is . If you want to hunt hounds than get hounds. If you want a easy handing than get a cold nose cur. Just my opion. Mel

Re: CUR PLOTT CROSS
75% my dogs are plott x cur, Im happy with the outcome of my breedings. I wouldnt say you can make a cur better by breeding plott into them, they wouldnt be curs then. I have had the best luck breeding a plott to a cur and keeping those pups, I have bred a plott cur to a plott cur 4 different times and ended up culling every single pup out of those litters.
Re: CUR PLOTT CROSS
i bred a long range cold nosed plott to a black mouth cur that is rough.all pups would hunt.some were open some silent.and like any breeding some were better than others.of corse i gave the best one away.i ask around about doing the hound/cur to hound/cur and was told by several people the only way it would work was to line breed and cull hard or you were wasting time.
